  1. The land anchor is the same set up as the Martian fully floating when in the middle position
  2. Right strange question was the vehicle an up running vehicle when you bought it did it have good oil pressure then 8 years ago. What i am getting at is have just seen video and if you have done nothing to it for 8 years and tried to start it and no oil pressure did you do anything else before striping engine out.
  3. All are commercial brake drums top smaller ones i would bet are ford D series the one that has me baffled though is bottom left what are the four things fastened to it to make legs in its role as a plant pot. scrap value pikeys may take them if you leave them near roadside. £120 per ton but sit one on bathroom scales your way out on weight As for what there off the one with feet on is of the front of a chassis with a front axle that took 20inch wheels and went out of service about 30 years ago same drums where fitted to many different trucks sorry to say you have not unearthed a gold mine
  4. when i got my first Martian it had the exact same side lights on front wings i got some spare Lens from the Lucas distributer in Hull but that was 30 years ago now
  5. Head gasket cracked liner or head. Water is being exposed to combustion temperatures and vaporising it out of exhaust Must have posted same time as NOS
  6. near the rear of the gearbox may be a sender unit or a cable drive that leads to a small gear drive unit with a sender unit on it has four leads coming out of it

  10. Had a few over the years some driven mechanical some i converted to hydraulic. I believe but dont quote me on this shear pin on mechanical drive was designed to go at 25000lbs. Going rate many many years ago was three scrap car mot failures per winch they were coming of ex council snow ploughs. Going rate today http://www.crouchmilitarysales.co.uk/listing/garwood-winch/ not as big as the one you have Also yours is not the one fitted to dt or wlf wrecker i believe only to cargo trucks white corbitt an a few Macs always behind cab
  11. Dont think its DT 980 going by hump in front bumper front wings and louvres in bonnet panels. Reason i asked did the British army ever use the White Corbit as a 5th wheel tractor or were the trucks built up there for distribution among other forces looks like i posted same time as you you have answered my question

  14. Commer crew cab off a dustcart gardener engine and Mack undercarriage. Surely there must be something like the RSPCA you can report this to
  15. Completely out of my depth here but will ask anyway is the brake system sort of like a multi plate clutch on a motor bike have looked at photos i am stumped. if so can understand how brake tool adjusts it
  16. Cant tell from photo is the foot slightly convex. Reason i said lots of lorry loader legs have similar holes for that very reason. But yours is as good a reason as any
  17. The hole in the foot i think is no more than to stop water standing on it.
  18. driving home late one night after having a drink many many years ago in a mark one cortina spluttered to halt i diagnosed fuel blockage. Ended up taking top of carb and losing needle valve from above float crawling about on hands and knees looking for it. Mate chap who work for us pulled up picked me up and told me to get back in car and sit still. what seemed like seconds later he told me to get off home. Monday morning he told me he had chopped the end of a ball point pen and used it as a needle valve and pour a gallon of petrol in the tank. Cortina was works runabout we used it like that till it was scrapped years later. we called this guy John Gudenuff have many stories to tell of him.
  19. just got back on line now no power 36 hours not flooding but gales. Frightening live in a newish house (13yrs old) it was creaking two trucks in yard flipped over one gone about 30 yards on its side (18 tonnner). called out to an artic with tilt on polish driver who had taken an alternative route due to traffic chaos and had ended up on lightly forested private road. so parked up. Tree started falling around him so pulled along road and when he emerged whole truck was blown bodily in to a field dropping 4ft down and clearing a dyke with no wheel marks gave the lads a right headache getting it back out
