  1. lots of people seem to know how much this vehicle is worth but cant afford it how about we have a separate auction on here and say how much we are willing to pay bearing in mind its provenance i will go to to £7,500 and willing to fork up if the owner accepts how much you willing to pay i am pretty sure between us we will come to a true price the vehicle will be worth
  2. bet it gets a free listing when that one runs out
  3. Heres a drops thats getting new role in civilian life not for my self but for a customer. But i am fitting the gear
  4. So what i am trying to get over is all participants in the pulling of the tank is you where acting like farmers not the daft lad with explorer and yes i would be willing to come and give the benefit of my experience and risk a good hiding for pointing out your faults
  5. I mention the pissing about like farmers for the simple reason it is some thing that is seen all the time in the recovery industry. Farmer has a tractor with big engine low gearing attached to a large 6 furrow plough puts it in a field it pulls like a train nothing stops it. 8wheeler delivering to farm gets a couple of wheels of road farmer drops of plough tries to give him a pull out spins. No problem fetch another tractor big wide wheels low gearing 300 Bhp both sit and spin. Ring up mate he brings 2 more equally large tractor all hang on sit and rev the bollocks of them do nothing but scratch about on road much waving of arms encouraging more spinning still nothing. Stumped they ring a daft lad up the road.who has an old Scammell explorer he comes backs up to this 8 wheeler and hangs his crane on to it lifting in so doing he don’t actually move it of the floor but he has reduced its rolling resistance by a considerable amount plus the weight transference has increased his drawbar pull many times over.. Daft lad selects bottom gear and pulls it out no revving no fuss. Farmers left thinking what they done wrong not realising the plough is the very thing that makes the tractor pull so well through weight transference
  6. If you have a post mortem on the wrecker arena event i would suggest everyone over looked the very thing that sets a recovery vehicle apart from a normal road going cargo vehicle. The gear on its back why piss about like a load of farmers with multiple tractors making bigger and great fools of yourselves. You where using the equipment as tractors not as recovery vehicles
  7. I know nothing about motorcycles but that sure looks a credit to its owner
  8. I think its fair uk trucks have to pay a levy in every country in europe. They will also pay it here but it will be disguised as an increase in roadfund licence
  9. When i saw first photo i thought US but ends on second pic smack of British. Sorry i dont know plus i fail to see how it works
  10. what sort of core plugs are they if convex tap in sort another tap in centre wont hurt if like flan dish suggest not cleaned before fitted what ever better putting effort in to repairing now rather then doing big damage in the future. Do it right once then forget about it

personal question i know but was it insured ? before i comment. Are you you sure it was on a trailer how about single rear wheeled truck could an electric winch done the job of three or four men when you suggest scenarios it makes insurance companies very wary
  15. The number you quote is only a casting number for the winch brake. the only time i have seen a model number on any Garwood winches i have had it was on winch that i will bet the same as yours. it was on a brass plate riveted to the top of the of the worm wheel housing. Alas i cant remember the number nor did i ever know for sure what it came of but it was suggested it had been on a brockway bridging truck. It was classed as a 35,000 lbs the 980 DT was 25,000 lbs
  16. leyland didnt make crappy gauges they simply bought in the cheapest available same as all manufactures do with all components
  17. jack up any axle on any vehicle with a conventional diff and you can spin the wheel round and round thats what the diffs there for.
  18. Yep nothing as yet but funds permitting will have another on road for winter. At the moment i am playing with the chassis of the recovery gear shown above. The one at Kibworth has been sold (i belive) and is going up north guess where its stopping on the way for shot blast and make over ?
  19. Welcome to the forum. Good luck with model building Every one on here likes pictures Lets have some
  20. As far as i am aware it originated because of the EEU but think the answer is NO
  21. What really winds me up about CPC That you can pass by attending not listening or learning anything the only thing you can fail on is forgetting to take your licence to the first course. You can sit the same course multiple times. Or believe it or not You can pay money to right person and they arrive through the post 6 weeks later. Who thinks up these scams
  22. What does it do eg make a click or clunk does the ignition light go out when you press starter ?
