Can anyone help me with info for a modelling project please? I am looking for photos and dimensions of the Larkspur antenna (not the mounts) as carried on Ferret/Saladin/Saracen/Chieftain and other British military vehicles. I want to reproduce the antennae accurately in scale from turned brass. What is the typical length and diameter, were they in sections (like Clansman), etc? If anyone can photograph an antenna with a tape measure alongside, that would be the perfect answer. Thanks.

Hi guys Does anyone here have any photos of Hong Kong-based Scorpions? I am trying to gather info for a possible project. How many were there, are serials known? I believe that the Scorpion at Aldershot Museum actually served in HK, but of course it has been upgraded many times since then. Any info on this particular machine O2FD54? Thanks Mike

Hi guys I'm thinking of modelling a Battle of Britain diorama based around a Spitfire or Hurricane. What would be suitable RAF vehicles to support our famous fighters? I'm thinking fuel tankers, crew trucks, armament trucks, even private cars perhaps? Anything really to add interest to the scene. Cheers Mike

He needs to be fiendly, preferably in the south of England, and willing to let me crawl all over his favourite machine with a tape measure, notebook and camera! Why? I am building a large scale model of an M5A1 and although I have a large reference library of literature and photos, I still need to find many many details which can only be done if an owner can kindly give me access to his vehicle. This means a lot to me. I'll never own a real one, so buuilding one will be the nearest thing i will ever get. I want it to be as detailed and accurate as I can make it. I'm looking for photos of the OPEN engine deck of an M5A1 Stuart - not any other Stuart. I'm modelling one in 1.6 scale and need to see under the top deck with the deck removed. I need to see details of the radiators and fuel tanks and what the top decks were bolted down to. I'd also like to see the underside of the top decks. Does anyone have contacts to someone who owns one or has restored one? Thanks in advance for your help. Mike Shackleton

Can anyone help with this little conundrum? Attached is a plate from a Tilly. As it says, the B174 number is an Auxiliary Army Workshop (AAW) and is a code for its location. Also attached is a note from an AAW of vehicles rebuilt by that company - Central Motor Company. A Tilly has recently been rescued from a dilapidated shed - as you have probably seen on HMVF http://hmvf.co.uk/forumvb/showthread.php?27704-Austin-Tilly-Light-Utility-BASKET-CASE-anyone-need-parts. The rescuer says it had a rebuild in Feb 51 at M.T.R.S No.B266 If memory serves, MTRS stands for Motor Transport Repair Shop. This was introduced in the early 50s when the army started to sub-contract maintenance tasks to civilian companies. Is this correct? Hi all Austin Approximately 30,000 Austins were produced. Quite a healthy number still exist with 206 on the Register's books. Hillman Just under 20,000 Hillmans were made and 33 survive. Standard The total ordered (in two distinct series) was over 9,000 for the Army, Air Force, Navy and the Ministry of Supply. Just 2 Series DC Tillys and 29 Series UV Standards survive. I am a former Ferret and Hillman Tilly owner. My main interest is in the historical side and modelling military vehicles. However, the main reason for joining HMVF is to make contact with Tilly owners or those who are interested in them.
