1. None on Ebay..... so I'm lucky :undecided:
2. G'Day Tan The odd bit of Pinz in here I think we have 4 Malaysian based people in here now. I heard once said a Haflinger owner will buy a Pinzgauer and a Pinzgauer owner will buy a Haflinger, very incestuous. I'd love one if I could find one I wonder if it would fit in my box coming from the UK :cool2: I owe, I owe off to ebay I go, I blame you entirely
3. The pinion and damage on yours reminds me of the same shonky maintenance done on mine. I could just picture them reving the engine saying "whats that weird grinding noise at the back" and then reving it some more with thoughtless expressions. Anyway...... can't wait for the next batch of piccies and progress
4. yep I need a few bits I wonder if the seat design is for the mine protection? If you look at the new Iveco's the mod bought the seats are anchored from the roof as if anchored to the floor the explosion hits the floor, seat base then your rear end. Quite nice those new Iveco's Anyway, good to see, hat's off to the Army people.
5. Well flash backs of fitter training today, like: - when using a hacksaw, pressure on the forward stroke, pressure off on the back stroke. Funny as when I started hacking I was like a kid then got back in the routine. - that cold chisels are great tools  So today was some paint prep, removing the remaining tunnel insulation and tub modifications. Stinking hot..... Also having an idea to move the winch solenoid box. The way it is fitted 'inservice', the Warn winch clutch cannot be operated (snafu). I believe the UK ones have Ramsey winches. I need to see if the cable will plug in.
6. I always thought, personally the whole bad handling issue was blown out of proportion. We had the same thing in the Aussie Army when the Defenders were introduced to replace the series. Our brass had roll bars fitted after a spate of roll overs. My opinion was, no fault of the vehicle, but: - The defenders were much more powerful than the series as we had the Isuzu diesels. When tearing around the scrub it's more by feel and the noise so roaring along in a Defender is a lot faster than the series. - Having coils the defender has a much better ride but being softer and with the higher speeds drivers did not compensate. I believe a lot of the same goes for the mutts as they had gone from leaf springs to coils. Just a matter of driving them correctly.
7. yeah take about 200 of the Pinz  So who you reckon made the decision? Government normally can't think that quick. Neither can top brass. Local commanding officer????
8. Yep I am very happy with the trolley. Just waking up here and getting ready to go to the yard. Going to lift the body and wheel the engine and drive train out. I was going to just take half out at a time but am getting confident it is not that dificult (famous last words)
9. I doubt not owning a vehicle is a problem. Knowing about WW2 radio gear is good. .... Ahhh makes me think of the movie U571 http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0141926/plotsummary I see no mention of the controversy that it was the English that captured the submarine. Ok off my box G'Day, welcome
10. Well as part of the more extensive tear down, I started on the 'spare' vehicle to work out how to get the driveline out in one piece. So I guess for some reason, remove the radiator hoses from the engine and then the radiator.. Behind the radiator there is a lot of insulating material Which has absorbed water  and have some nice holes to patch Also, because the Army never bothered with coolant, most the associated piping is fairly knackered. I think I will replace all the piping with stainless. Some of the blanket has come off ok, but some of it's torn apart as water logged. I may have to buy some bits from the supplier or have a go making it. Also thinking of sealing the lot later under rubber type paint. Tomorrow will be a continuation of trying to get the fibreglass out, so I will be itching for the next week or so. We also pretty much unbolted everything out of the cab and most the rear end.
11. I and everyone else is very impressed with yesterday's scrapyard buy. The hostpital paitient trolley is perfect for my toolbox. Not sure what I will use the oxygen bottle holder for, perhaps a beer cooler :cool2: I covered the box up when I left today and the guy with me said it looks spooky
12. could say it was a range safey vehicle? Yep the local police/polis station easilly identified by the cable tv dish on the roof :-X Well off to deliver my hospital trolley to the yard, oops I mean new 'custom' toolbox trolley.
13. Most of it Slow motion, i.e. in Low range. Trying to find something steep enough to stop it. Those mounds very steep, don't look so bad in the photo but in photo 2 the rear wheels are off the ground as she bounced when coming down the rear. Oh well, going to look have a look today as need to figure out how to take the rear drivetrain out, to make it look pretty.
14. The Roman Brasov's are far better and are 8 ton. I don't know what 911 stands for, meant to been retired years ago but keep seeing them on the roads. Porsche......... well it's not an MV, but I saw this going to work on my car one morning and you don't see this too often and it was going to a scrapyard???? and you asked :-D
15. Ok these are the last 3 in this yard. Pretty rough but mostly there. Being open air during its life there is floor rot etc. At today’s rate: 1 = 1200 pounds 3 = 2400 pounds (was haggling with him a bit as the last one could be cut up for spares, well that’s what I'd do with it).
16. Driving home a couple of hundred km, but not empty handed. Also a selection of different ammo boxes
17. Well another quick trip to the junkyards. - A pile of winches. I believe all chassis mount Mercedes - A couple of fairly complete 911's - Trailers - Stack of fire hose equipment
18. If you found Alladin's barn full of interesting MV's you will have lots of new friends. On that point I keep thinking of a movie line "A Porsche is too small to have sex in, but once you get out...." If the Morros is anything like the piccies or has potential to look like that you could have your on line "it don't start, it don't run but the guys at the MV show want a ride" :-D
19. I am forever amazed at the different vehicles that pop up in here that I have never heard of before. Especially when, they have a lot of character, like this one. I am waiting impatiently for your barn trip photos, tell the snow to sod off :-D
20. I still haven't got a shipping price yet, that time of the year :argh: So I am going to the junkyards tomorrow, morning. I saw this one for sale here the other day. works out to 2331 quid, pity he has changed the lights though The Stonefield diesel is 3171 quid...... The Roman Brasov trucks are 2610 .... BSA M20 4700 quid A few other bits but I can't recall. Never know you can fill a container :yay:
21. Well getting the bugs out...... I thought I'd have a play as going to rip the drive train out next few weeks to check everything and paint bits.
22. All I can say is "efficient buggers" :dancinggirls:
23. thats an interesting shot, wonder why or what they are up to?
24. A letter opened by the censorship people. What would happen today if the goverment said we have to read all your mail  I guess if we can't keep a Prince's location a secret, there's no point http://www.news.com.au/national/prince-harry-criticises-gossip-magazine-over-afghanistan-reports/story-e6frfkvr-1225816229095
