  1. I've been hearing rumors of these for a little while. I'd be interested to hear some feedback on how they run and the build quality. I wonder if the parts are interchangeable?
  2. Thanks, I've found a few versions. I was just hoping someone on hear might have a few hanging around.
  3. Morning, Does anyone have a source for 6v bulbs. I'm after a few of these, it comes out of the headlight of my British Army rebuilt jeep. Thanks Charlie
  4. afternoon, It's a nice Jeep, a little rough but a genuine example It's a 1942 Ford chassis no. 13***, early Willys body with GPW locker lids and certainly 1 F marked seat. It's ex-British Army and looks like its never been restored. Like mine it has just been repainted, it has lots of original bright green underneath a few layers of OD. Has all 5 original combats, push pull light switch but things like brake servo, replacement Lucas horn, no fuel strainer, basically it's a rebuild jeep that's been keep running for 70 years. Couple of things to note the engine isn't correct and the front horns have been chopped but otherwise the chassis looked pretty good. Just a shame it doesn't have any sort of rebuild plate so I doubt you'll ever be able to find it's correct reg or army prefix. All in all I quite liked it, certainly a good project or just run it as it is. Charlie
  5. I'm actually going to have a look at that one tomorrow as its not far from me. Certainly looks like an ex british army jeep but it also looks like it needs some work. Apparently it has a ford chassis, Willys engine, also has butler side lights typical of an army jeep. Would sit nicely along side my other british jeep, although need to sell my ex-Norwegian one first....tbh I'm more interested in having a look as it seems to have a few British mods still on it. Will have feedback tomorrow.
  6. Thanks for the advice, I think I may need to do a little more reading first, there seems to be a huge mount of choice and ideally I'd like a compressor to work both for blasting, spaying and tools, although for the bigger bit I will probably call in the professionals. Anyway here is is a little teaser for those that asked...more will follow in the US section once I get going.
  7. Afternoon, I'm about to start stripping a 1944 Willys and I am looking for a sand blasting / spraying set up with a compressor. The plan is to strip it down and repaint all the parts as it's currently wearing a Norwegian green. As I'm sure many on here have done the same has anyone got any advice or recommendations? Anything else you'll recommend before starting out? Thanks in advance Charlie
  8. Good Evening, Can anyone recommend or even quote for collection of a Willys MB from a port in Lincolnshire to be delivered to chipping norton in Oxfordshire, probably on the 15th Sept? Thanks Charlie 07717473563
  9. Morning, Quick update, received the radiator back yesterday from Bryan and Sons, he's done a lovely job and was very helpful throughout. Its had a complete overhaul, new core, new overflow pipe and a repaint. The only issue I had was that I was advised (Jeep parts) that Jeep radiators have a 3 core system yet when mine was taken apart it only had a 2 core. I asked to have a 3 core re-installed but Bryan advised that this wouldn't fit and in fact the the old core had been cut down at some point. It seems that the core had already been repaired but probably whilst in service with the British Army. So a new 2 core has been fitted and on initial trials it is running well, keeping a temp of around 180-190 which I think is fairly acceptable. finished article.
  10. Thanks guys. It's gone of to Bryan and Sons T.W. Should be back end of next week so I'll keep you posted. Ta
  11. Morning All, Can anyone point me in the direction of someone who can repair and do some minor refurbishment work on a 1944 Willys MB radiator. It's pretty original and still has it's old British Army green paint in places from when it was rebuilt in about 45 so I'm very keen to keep it with the vehicle. The overflow pipe has come away and it has had the drain valve removed and where this has been patched there is a small leak, basically some soldering work, a flush and then a bit of making good. Thanks in Advance Charlie
  12. What is the standard British font? I may have to make my own as Axholme are now in Normandy until the 14th.
  13. Hi Chaps, Probably covered but hey! Finally received the key card for my ex-British Army YH Jeep which after 4 months is quite exciting!! Anyway my old girl 38YH40 was converted from M5558997 and was cast 29.10.58. Anyway as at some point she was repainted is original OD (80's or earlier) I would quite like to add her M no. sequence especially as she is in a show on the 8th June. Being new to this where can I get a stencil and done? What paint (I've read a bit about appling stencil painting but thought I'd ask again just in case there is a specific art for Jeeps. ie rough and ready as is the Army way. Anyway here is my key card..feel free to comment if you think I have missed something. Thanks in advance Charlie
  14. Great stuff...I've put you in my address book. Will be in touch shortly.
