  1. Hello Jonesy, Yes dogs are allowed as long as they are kept on a lead and you clean up after them. John
  2. West Wilts MVT with the help of the National Trust, are holding Lacock at War on the 18th & 19th of August in the historic village of Lacock (SN15 2LQ) less than a mile away from General Pattons wartime H.Q. at Lackham House. We have been granted a flypast by the BBMF Spitfire & Hurricane on Saturday 18th, AND the Lancaster on Sunday 19th. 1940s singer Madeline Brown will be performing both days and in the Red Lion pub on Saturday evening. The Red Lion is next to the show field and will be providing a Hog Roast & Barbecue on both days, they are also hosting a Beer & Cider festival in the Show field. 1940s dress encouraged.
  3. It was definitely HMK and I think there was a crowfoot similar to the British one.
  4. I was shown some of this webbing about 2 years ago, it was stamped HMK after some digging on the internet I found that the letters stood for His Majesty the King of THAILAND! maybe the ones that you have were a cancelled order?
  5. Thanks for clearing that up Jason, it still sounded wonderful I noticed on the photos of A & E that there were 2 M4 HSTs there 1 was Steves, who owns the other?
  6. Hello Mick, The MVT website has a Theft Register, why not enter the details of your truck & other bits on there? Best of luck in getting it back.
  7. Thats strange if it was Steves M4, as it was well north of where he lives when I got behind it.
  8. At about 06:45 this morning heading north on the A36 the Allied Forces Diamond T with Rogers trailer carrying Jim Clarks Allis Chalmers M4 High Speed Tractor. I couldn't get past so I turned the car stereo off wound down the windows and enjoyed the music coming from the Ts exhaust. Driving at 28 mph has never been so enjoyable.
  9. The FLAK towers in Augarten are fenced off with 2 metre high fences, there are other FLAK towers in Vienna, and I believe that one has been turned in to an aquarium! The eldest son (who lives in Vienna) is visiting us at present and he told us that the locals hate the FLAK towers as they are reminders of the war, they can't be demolished as they are listed buildings, so the authorities are leaving them to the elements.
  10. Hello Marty, The FLAK towers that I saw are in Augarten to the west of the Danube, if you want more info on the Aresnal museum its website is www.hgm.or.at if you click on the union jack in the top right hand corner it translates to english. If you do visit remember to go out the back to see the collection of Centurions, there every variant you can think of.
  11. I will contact the eldest son who lives in Vienna and get the name of the park. Regards John
  12. I'm probably wrong, but they look like Police issue motorcycle boots to me.
  13. If you are in Vienna you could visit the Aresnal which is close to the railway station, this museum is not privately owned but the admission is reasonable and free on certain sundays. There are still Flak towers in a park in vienna although I can't remember which one.
  14. I've just looked up XM523E2, it was a 25 ton Prime Mover built by International Harvester in the mid 70s. the 'X' and the 'E' suggest it was experimental and not standardised.
  15. Does anyone know what has happened to the Allan Williams Turret at Worbarrow Bay on Lulworth ranges? I went to Tyneham on Lulworth ranges on saturday and when we got to Warbarrow I went to show the Turret to our daughter, the base was still there but the domed turret was missing! Judging by the fresh scrapes in the grass, and flakes of rust lying about it seems that it had been removed recently. Has it been removed to be restored or has some low life got a couple of quid for scrap? While at Tyneham we visited Tyneham Farm where the Dorset dry stone walling Association were in the process of building a "scrappy wall" some parts incorporated in it were sections of 432 track and exploded tank shells. Tyneham is a village that was taken over by the army in 1943 to train American troops for the D Day landings. It is in a Tank firing rang, but is accessible most weekends, and well worth a visit.
  16. Hello Clive, I will be doing the booking in at the Severnside show, just turn up and fill in a late entry form, or you could give me a phone call, my number is in the back of Windscreen under West Wiltshire area.
  17. Hi Rob, ref lowering the suspension. I own an unmodified 1984 109FFR 63KB66 the standard spring shackles are longer than civilian 109s with a bit of practice you can get in & out easy enough, well I can and I'm 55. Will you be going to the Severnside MVT show at Cambridge?
  18. According to the article in MMI Crispy Duck is getting a full restoration, presumably the others will follow when time & money is available. As stated above there is nothing available that will do the job.
  19. I'm amazed that the Rat Patrol is on you tube! I wrote to "points of view" back in the mid 60s when the series finished asking for another series. As the episode shown is series 1 episode 1 does this mean there is a series 2?
  20. We all know about the Green Goddesses RL Bedfords Commer Q4and Austin Gipsys that the Home Office Had, but what happened to the BSA B40s that they had? I have heard stories about hangars full of crated B40s, but they never came on to the open market. I know that the army disposed of their B40s around 1975/6 but where are the home office ones.
  21. You could try Dave Crouch of Crouch Recovery for a Bedford cab, ha had a few new fully trimmed ones last year he may still have one or two left.
  22. A friend of mine owns the Salamander based Runway Surface Friction Test Vehicle. This was built without the centre axle, and has an aircraft wheel connected to a dynamometer which can be lowered to measure the friction of the runway surface. This is the only one built (unless anyone knows any different) and could be for sale.
  23. There were 2 of these miniature Matadors built for Duxford by Lion Cars. The chassis were purpose built, the engine & transmission are from a BL mini and the axles are Vauxhall/Bedford HA. Both still exist and are currently 12 miles from where I live. I keep asking the owner when they will come out of hibernation but never get a straight answer. The driver is sitting across the vehicle, and as you can imagine they are not very easy to drive
  24. I wish we had the room as I can get a 432, 433 Abbott & a couple of Saracens easily enough even a Leyland Martian recovery.
  25. The MVT havw been asked once again to put on a display at this years Footman James Restoration Show at the Bath & West showground near Shepton Mallet. This years theme will be "Powered by Rolls Royce" we have already sourced a Ferret and a Champ, but we would like a Humber 1 ton, preferably part restored and a sectioned B Series engine for the display. The show is inside and very good security is provided. If anyone can help with this project please pm me. Thanks.
