  1. Thanks for your kind words, I am always happy to help, I must say that is a rather impressive truck. I have owned my Leyland Daf T244 for 13 years now and although I don't consider myself an expert I am lucky enough to have the full set of AESPs to help me out with any problems.
  2. The bungees look like lengths of bungee rope, it comes in 100 metre rolls you just cut it to the required length and tie it in place. Also used on the side sheets of MAN, sorry they are now Rheinmetall trucks.
  3. Reynolds Boughton still exist, why not contact them with the chassis number and they will be able to give you a definitive date of manufacture. I have met Richard Boughton who is a director of the company, and I am sure he would be willing to help you.
  4. What you have is part of the CES for the Cougar family of vehicles, Mastiff, Ridgeback and Wolfhound. The spade, rake/hoe and Broad or narrow picks attach to the head of the axe by R clips with the head of the axe pointing upwards. Not an easy tool to use.
  5. Did anyone else spot the M35 REO in the convoy at the beginning of the new BBC series SAS Rogue Heroes?
  6. Or could be the law trying to trap someone!
  7. DMC 7FW also covers Leyland DAF 4 tonne, DROPS & Foden.
  8. Heddington & Stockley tonight, Jim Clark did a full pull of 105 metres, unfortunately the Scammell only made 65 metres.
  9. Some photos of Martin's DROPS pulling the sled at the 2017 Heddington & Stockley steam rally, also a Scammell Pioneer which didn't quite make a full pull due to a fluffed gear change and a Foden 6x6 wrecker which did make a full pull. All this happened on the Saturday evening after the public had left.
  10. Exmoor trim do these, but they aren't cheap.
  11. There was a No.19 radio case in my dad's garage, he died 3 years ago and we haven't got round to the daunting task of clearing the garage out. The garage was a prefab house and the last 10 feet of it (where I last saw the 19 set cabinet) is literally up to the roof! My brothers and myself have set a date in August to clear everything out, if the 19 set cabinet is still there I will let you know.
  12. We had some new ones delivered a couple of years ago, and they were varnished!!! I remember the ones that we used when I was at Arborfield were just plain wood tops, not treated with anything.
  13. UIN stands for Unit Identification Number which every unit in the British Army has its own unique number. Army UINs begin and end in A. I don't know about Navy and RAF but it is fair to assume that they begin and end in N and R respectively. I'll try to look up A1021A at work tomorrow.
  14. Ref the ERA blocks, I saw a video on YouTube about the ERA on Russian tanks in Ukraine, apparently most of the side ERA bags are filled with all sorts of rubbish to make them look like they are filled with ERA, but the egg cartons and other rubbish doesn't work like ERA for some reason.
  15. Has anyone else noticed that quite a lot of the Russian vehicles used in the invasion of Ukraine are rather long in tooth? For example Uaz 452 vans, Ural 375s and Zil 131s. Are these vehicles in regular service with the Russian army, or ere they dragged out of storage from Soviet times?
  16. Each weight was 4 stones, 56lbs or roughly 25Kg.
  17. I was at Arborfield then, intake 73A we were originally issued with 48 pattern battledress trousers and used 38 pattern webbing. I'm front left in the photo which was taken outside the 3 storey block, or JEEPland, opposite those 13 bunkers that I had to run over god knows how many times.
  18. There is an original one in the small arms collection at the Land Warfare Centre in Warminster.
  19. 633 Squadron has a lot of incorrect vehicles in it, a Series 1 Land Rover, a Fordson Major pulling a bomb trailer, but what really takes the biscuit is the scene with the top brass driving up to the guardroom and a MINI drives past the aerodrome entrance.
  20. Has anyone else noticed the JCB logo in the badge on the door? Was this a JCB factory fire engine previously?
  21. That would be a West German Bundeswehr Essenbehalter, which roughly translates as food carrier, it should have an removable aluminium liner and a spoon and ladle that clip in the inside of the hinged lid. I bought 2 of these a few years ago off German eBay, they were quite cheap but delivery was expensive.
  22. The best people to ask would be Reynolds Boughton themselves, their contact details should be on the data plate. Yes they are still in business.
  23. These were also used by the Navy on their airfields and are still in service, we had one at work for some time (ex RAF Akrotiri) with an electrical fault that no-one could sort out. I would have loved to have had it to make a camper out of it but it went to Withams and sold for over £16K!
  24. They were fitted with BOWMAN radios, which are still in service, and have recently had a software update. As far as I know none have ever been released.
  25. Don't queue too early, our last 20 Huskies aren't being disposed of until June, God help anyone who buys one.
