About 1942 Dodge

  • Birthday 01/01/1
  1. Dear all I have an original NOS air cleaner/filter in the box plus flexi pipe from the cleaner to carb which I would swap for jeep bits or sell if it is of any interest. At the very least it looks very smart. Nigel
  2. Dear all I picked up some doors/windows for a Morris when collecting some Dodge bits the other day, the chap seemd to think that they were x British army Morris? but not sure. I would post some pictures but being a bit thick struggling with that, help please I will then post pics. Nigel
  3. Perhaps a note of caution Not being the best engineer in fact probably one of the worst I also rebuilt my steering box, if the ball bearings are worn then in all probability so are the races they run in. In mine the steering column was also pitted I ended up getting a rebuild kit fitting, new bushes, shaft and steering column, then re shimming the top of the box, it may seem a little excessive but it is the steering we are talking about. And remeber that if the end of the out put shaft is worn this will affect the steering. Not trying to be clever but having had the jeep shimmy on a previous vehicle I wanted to aviod it at all costs, I had my steering box looked at and thats what I was recomended to do. Now for the rest of the rebuild
  4. I spent all last winter under my WC 56, took it to Normandy for 2004, by the time I had got to Horndean it had cracked the exhaust manifold, and used all the oil and notice that oil pressure was low, oh and had a flat tyre. So pumped up tyre and filled with OKO? And then checked oil level every day. The Dodge then ran perfectly every day, and out performed the jeeps in the dunes. Last winter checked cylinders and replaced piston rings, checked crank and replaced big end and main bearings with the engine in situ. Found bearings just starting to fail. And replaced exhaust manifold. Engine still had low oil pressure, found oil pressure relief spring in two pieces. I have had problems with leaking brake clyinders as mentioned honed cylinders and problem cured. I hope that you cure your problems. Looks a nice dodge, as does the Carryall.
