  3. I don't actually have one yet nor have i found one for sale. however, this model appears to be the most numerous so i want to check i can fit inside everything i want to. The brake system sounds unnecessarily complex. Has anyone tried fitting air all round? Thanks. Richard
  4. John, thats exactly what i suspected. I tried contacting RBSL who still advertise the CVR(T) range on their website but not had a reply and they'd probably charge a small fortune for one little pin anyway. Yes, making a new pin is an option we've looked into. Up to the owner at the end of the day. Hardening isn't really my area of expertise, haven't done it since college. I had some bits for my scammells clutch hardened and it was a bit pricey. Looks like David Brown is now David Brown Santasalo. Thanks anyway. Richard

  6. Morning all, I'm considering one of these trailers to go behind our Pioneer, and found this thread. I just wanted to ask what the internal dimensions are of these trailers if one of the owners here would be so kind. Also presumably the body comprises a framework, with sheet cladding on the outside and some sort of panelling on the inside? So it would be possible to insulate between the two skins? Many thanks.   8. Yeah thats a possibility. We haven't made enquiries yet, and theres probably complete final drives about, but i'm not sure anyone stocks individual parts of gearboxes like these. Will start ringing around.
  9. I'm helping a friend sort out the final drives on his Scimitar. They've both been leaking oil onto the brakes. We pulled the LH drive off the tank and upon pulling the input shaft found that the seal had been compromised by sand and similar foreign material and the rubber seal is worn. Its a pretty poor design but we're working with what we've got. Given the ingress of sand i elected to open up the box. Oil seals are easily sorted, but we're now interested to hear the forums opinions / experience of what we found. The three planet gears each revolve on a shaft which has been made with a recess in each end forming a kind of 'tubular' end to the shaft with presumed design intent being that the tubular bit is 'peened' outwards to stop the shaft moving along its axis. However, we found that two of the planet shafts have been installed with this assumed design intent but one hasn't been 'peened' at all allowing it to drift longitudinally and interface unintentionally with the inside of the box wearing down the 'tubular' section of the shaft at that end. So, we're wondering if anyone has encountered this below par assembly of the box before and if theres any chance of getting a new planet gear shaft? Thanks. Richard

  11. I’m rebuilding a Junior De Luxe engine (not XXE) to put in a replica Welbike I’m buying from Welbike UK. I wanted to find about oils, so got in touch with Villiers services whom i bought a load of engine bits from and they said SAE140 in the clutch housing and mineral based two stroke oil at 20:1 in the petrol. the Welbike operators manual states M160, which google says is basically SAE140. I googled the subject and found this thread. There seems to be some difference of opinion here and in other places on the web and 140 is very thick, its what goes in the diff of our Scammell, so thought i’d re-ignite the debate. I also found reference somewhere on line to Welbike’s using straight petrol, but that doesn’t seem right. Thanks. Richard

Great to see that you've snapped up the T94, do please start a resto thread on here so we can track progress. @Citroman the ones at Schipol airport were M4s, i remember an article in Wheels and Tracks magazine years ago on them. @KevinT thanks for digging up those records. Good to keep the M6 data bank up to date. I can't fathom why so few of these vehicles exist now, but they do seem to be very rare. Richard

  14. I’m interested if anyone can identify this trailer and determine if its wartime. It’s has a data plate but its mostly obscured by one of the body brackets. I was able to decipher “Trailer, 5 Ton” and a chassis number 2021. The windows don’t look wartime and from the inside look like they’ve been cut in at a later date. Can anyone tell me what period its from and what its role was? Thanks. Richard

  16. You are unfortunately well behind schedule on getting in on OMG2024, it is fully booked and has a sizeable reserve list. But there has been a lot of people who successfully enrolled but haven’t been paying the instalments.   18. Morning all, Its been a while since i updated this. There has been lots of work going on in the background, its all the little jobs that take the time. Windscreen is glazed now just waiting final paint before install. I've got various small fittings in manufacture at the moment. Main focus has been the back body, which we fitted at the weekend in its nearly complete state along with the sliding jib section, with help from Matt Slade and his Foden EKA. We'll finish off the rest of the body in-situ. Very pleased with this progress and nearly looking OMG2024 ready . With the body on i trial fitted the rear mudguards and that showed that the mudguard brackets are bent so they've come off for repairs. I'm still in need of a brake pedal return spring if anyone has one going begging?? Richard

  22. I'm just wondering how to fill the sides of the frame with sealant. Any sealant i put in there to begin with will be more or less pushed out as the glass is slid in. The frame section at the bottom (or top in this case) will be fine - fill it with sealant and the glass will squidge into it nicely.
