  1. Ok, the the general feeling is that they dont work? I agree with Nick....rubbish statement about MV's not being on the thieves radar! Only last Sunday a Jeep that very sadly had once belonged to the owners serving father was stolen in broad daylight from Duxford Airfield Carpark!! Thanks all for your responses.
  2. Anyone fitted a Tracker to their vehicle? Just wondered how good they were and the best ones to get? Thanks Richard
  3. New Manifold set up fitted plus correct style Oil Filter fitted. Original oil lines i bought were far too short so not MW!!. Managed to buy all the fittings from John Morter and made them up myself. 3 hour round trip to the Shuttleworth VE Day Airshow completed and she ran like a dream.
  4. That's great help both....thanks.
  5. Anyone changed the front wheel bearings on an MW? None of the manuals I have covers it? Also, does anyone have the bearing number? Thanks Richard
  6. Hi all, I want to make up the missing Bump Stop assemblies and Fuel Can holder on my MW. Does anyone have any parts, drawings or prepared to draw me something up to enable me to do this please? Thanks in advance Richard
  7. Installed a new 644 battery last night, £69 delivered (next day) from Tayna Ltd. My MW seemed to start without turning over...lol. Much better! Thanks all Richard
  8. Thats great Pete, thanks. The fact i've only really tested it on tick over then is not a true result of whether or not the spring is working. Once i've renewed the oil lines to the filter i can road test, then as you suggested, i can replace the spring with a Jeep part if needed. Thanks again. Richard
  9. Hi Richard, It's facing away (flat of counter weight parallel to engine) when cold. How long should it take before the spring is hot enough to move it? Thanks Richard
  10. Yes, the spring is attached to the baffle spindle and the stop on the cover as I repositioned it. How long does it take before the baffle should start to open?
  11. Thanks Paul. I will leave alone for now and keep an eye on it as you suggest. Thanks Richard
  12. Thanks for that Pete. Just to further my understanding, does the spring contract or grow as i warms? Thanks Richard
  13. Hi all, My second issue is that i have noticed one of the rear head bolts is weeping a bit of water (bubbles when the engine is running). It's only slight but worring never the less. I think two trips to France has taken it's toll!! I'm thinking of removing the problem bolt, drying the cavity threads with compressed air, adding some sealer to the bolt threads then re-installing. Does anyone see any issues with the above and do they think it may solve the issue? Thanks Richard
  14. Hi all, I need a bit of education and guidence please. I've just fitted a very good used exhaust manifold to my MW. It had a complete working heat riser flap. The biothermal (think thats what it's called) spring had come off but i re-attached it. I warmed up the engine and all seemed ok, except i didnt notice that that flap had moved position? I expected it to (from closed to open) assuming it's start point was closed? Anyway, the engine idled and reved well and seemed to splutter a bit when i moved the flap position by hand. My questions are. 1. I know the flaps purpose is to divert hot exhaust gases to the intake manifold to heat up the engine quicker? Does this happen with the flap OPEN or CLOSED? Whats the flaps starting position? I assume closed? 2. If the spring is not functioning correctly (weak) i assume the flap will remain in it's starting position? What would be the outcome of this as far as the engine running is concerned? 3. Was it normal to experence the engine running rougher when i moved the flap by hand when the engine was warm? Hope all that makes sense? Thanks in advance Richard
  15. Hi Just installing my repro ZS filter. I have the centre feed from the filter (largest pipe) going to the bottom hole on the engine. Is this correct please? Thanks Richard.
  16. Ha ha....Yes mate. Needed a large can of elbow grease but the result was worth it. Hopefully I will never have to look for an MW manifold ever again!!:-|
  17. Found some original oil lines. Can now fit my repro ZS Oil filter conversion from John Morter. Makes more sense and they look identical.
  18. Oh i see now...the terminals are mounted offset, so i need to know the position of my + and - wiring or the leads may not reach the terminals.
  19. Thanks Richard. Would it not just be the case of rotating the battery 180 degrees to get the terminals in the correct position or am i missing something?
  20. Just read another thread where Richard Farrent recommends the 644 Tractor Battery for an OY. Does anyone know if that will fit the the battery box of an MW? Battery size is 345mmL x 172mmW x 238mmH. Price is £60 so very reasonable. Thanks Richard
  21. Hi chaps, I need to replace the battery in my MW. I've been looking at Heavy Duty models all of which seem to vary is spec. Any recommendations please? Also what "ah" rating is best to go for? The higher rating the better i assume? Thanks Richard
  22. Andy, Was you standing on the left hand side of the room, bidding against the bloke seated towards the back? The Lots you bought, i don't suppose you bought the box with the MW Horn Push in it did you??
  23. Restored and ready to fit :-)
