  1. Nice project and a good base for restoration. Good luck! By the way, are you in the UK? Alex
  2. Thanks Ian, sounds like a good price for the tubes as well. The Newbury dealer is ToTec I presume? Trailer frame is looking good! Alex
  3. Pierre-Olivier, I believe M4A1 "Berjou" is from the UK, M4A1 "Rebel" is Dutch. Don't know the owner of the first one though, but I am sure Adrian or Jim knows. Alex
  4. Pierre-Olivier, I am pretty sure it's forum member Jim Clark's Sherman V retrofitted with Radial engine. Hard to see on the picture, but I have seen it in person a few times last week and on the right side, near the front, it says "Jims little tank". Awesome that Jim decided to swap the US registration for British and proper kit for the XXX Corps run.....and not only Jim's Sherman, at least 5 Shermans were resprayed and finished in the proper markings for the event....also Adrian's V and the M4A2.....the latter appearing in 2nd US AD at Tanks in Town and full British one week later! Alex
  5. Ian; sounds like a good price. I have a set of 9.00x13 Alliance tyres, which I bought along with my Chevrolet C8. Although I prefer the Olympic/BKT tyres for our classic MV use, they were not making these anymore at the time I bought my truck. But, in the meantime BKT have re-introduced the tyre! What about tubes and liners? Did you use the originals or does the Newbury seller have these available new? I have seen tubes on Ebay, but the style and material for the valves seems limited. (plastic valves??) Anyway, good work on the GS and water trailers guys! Alex
  6. Very nice. I have always had a soft spot for the Morris PU and will certainly be following your thread. There was a lovely french owned (blue) PU in Normandy in 2009. Alex
  7. Interesting collection. (I think I have seen pics of the M4 HST's somewhere before...) Is that a Staghound turret on one of the M32's? Alex
  8. Really nice work Pauletto. And that bead roller is a very good investment! Alex
  9. Ouch....that's my model, which I did more than 15 years ago. Not very flattering with those cracked Tamiya tyres:blush::-D Nice project. I think we have seen the Morris on this forum before (?). I can't seem to find the thread at the moment, but there should be some pictures of the inside of "gin palaces" here on HMVF Alex
  10. Paul, please check your PM. A friend here in Holland might be able to help. Alex
  11. I think this is the picture Paul Bish mentioned in the other thread; source: churchilltank.com I am not sure what the original source is for the pic, but I have seen it in a publication of David Fletcher before. Picture was taken in Germany, just across the Dutch border. Alex
  12. Yes, A croc if I remember correctly. Can't seem to find the pic online at the moment, but I tried to find the location of the picture once....it was in Germany, right across the Dutch border. Alex
  13. Christian, Good to see a rare Dennis restored! I wouldn't mind seeing that one at the XXX corps event......or maybe Wings and Wheels in Ursel(?) Talking about Dennis and Port-en-Bessin; I presume you know these pictures (?); source: http://www.iwm.org.uk/collections/item/object/205087325 source: http://www.iwm.org.uk/collections/item/object/205205855 Alex
  14. Maurice, Have a save trip. I love to have a close look at the C15 and study all sorts of small details. Hope to see you there, Alex
  15. Is Etreham the site? If so, awesome! We will also be staying there. Sadly my CMP is far from finished, so it's BSA Folding bike time again! Also love to see Guy's QL with the new tilt. Good luck with the last few things on the K5. Alex
  16. Ian, glad I could be of help. Same here and would love to see what the K5 looks like with the new markings. Alex
  17. Here is an enlargement of the LST picture, showing "BEACH" on the tailgate of a Fordson (?), as Guy confirmed. Picture from "National Archives" only for discussion purposes. From what I have been able to see: Tail-gate...."Beach group emblem" on left (passenger side), word "BEACH" in stencil lettering just right of Beach group emblem. "Census number" in centre of tail-gate. and presumebly "AoS 67" on right hand (no idea about colour???). Left side of truck (passenger side)...."star" in second block of rear body, sometimes second "star" on left door, "free-hand number" on left door Right side of truck...same as left, but with "census number" on door. Top...."star with closed circle" on cab roof, right hand side Front panel...."Beach group emblem" to the left of radiator (passenger side) (location differs)....."Bridge plate with 9" on right hand of radiator....."AoS 67" on Right hand fender.....presumebly "painted (waterproofing) bars" on right hand fender....."LST info" on Left hand fender (LST 361?)....."Shipping stencils"; Length, Width, Height, Weight on a form(?) behind windscreen. The Windscreen also seems to have some additional forms or stickers, but I have no idea what these are. I presume the chalked number on the door is a number relating to the total number of vehicles on board the LST, while the lettering on the fender describes LST and maybe a number relating to the amount of Beach group vehicles from this section(?). I know time is limited before Normandy, but I wouldn't be surprised if British Pathe or IWM have videos displaying Beach group K5's. You could always paint those last numbers on your Austin on June 6th....it seems vehicle movement around Calvados that day will be difficult without the proper sticker, so that could give you a few hours for masking and painting:-D Alex
  18. Attached is a scan of a picture from another Heimdal publication. The original source seems to be IWM again, but I haven't been able to track down the picture number. I presume these trucks are "Beach group", but I am not sure. It shows the right hand door did have the census number, as Simon described. p.s. Scans only for discussion purposes, source: IWM.org.uk
  19. Ian, I am afraid I can't help you with the correct lettering of the LH wing. Attached is a scan of the same IWM picture from a Heimdal publication; you just can't read the lettering, but I recon if you would order a print from IWM, or just an enlargement of part of the picture, that would give you all the info for the proper markings. Picture number from IWM is: H 38976. Link: http://www.iwm.org.uk/collections/item/object/205219264
  20. Maybe only on the drivers door? Will check if I can find out more tonight. I think I have seen another pic of one or more "Beach" K5's on a Rhino Ferry which shows the right side of the truck. The IWM pic....I think the right hand fender shows those wading markings and the left hand fender probably has info on the LST etc. Alex
  21. A beach group K5 and RN QL together in Normandy 2014....that would be a sight to see! source: http://images.wararchives.net/ Source: http://www.iwm.org.uk/collections source: http://www.navsource.org/ source: http://www.combinedops.com/ I am sure you could get a better copy of the IWM picture in order to determine correct markings. Alex p.s. the beach group trucks didn't seem to have the huge star on the canvas....so disregard my previous post if you are going for a beach group livery (pic does seem to show a beach group K5 in the right foreground!)
  22. And a huge star on top of the canvas! source: http://www.wwiiarchives.net/servlet/action/gallery/0
  23. Pierre-Olivier, There are at least a few pictures of Sextons with CDP tracks in Nijmegen 1944;(second one might be the same pic Adrian is referring to?) Alex source: http://www.noviomagus.nl/Oorlog/Pics/Cat5/Oorlogcat5Cat.html Some also displayed in a Flickr album:
  24. Gordon, Niek, Thanks for your responce. So, WC54 doors can be modified to fit. Interesting to hear about these detail differences between models and civvy vs army. Niek, Excellent work on the cab; things are really moving with your project now! That D15 looks like a really nice project. Indeed I remember you asked for a steel box on the MLU forum. Let's hope one surfaces soon. I presume the one from the guy with the CMP FAT was already spoken for??? Don't tell me it was scrapped.... Alex
