Good show Ron, why bother with the lights?? the beach races are during the day!! In the meantime, I just saw this one! Lex
  2. Always a problem! did you have it welded? I tried that once, but it warped the shaft. But any good engineer will be able to cut a keyway with a milling machine. Good luck! Lex
  3. Jan, maybe not for Enfields!! Lex

    BSA B40WD

I do have the contract info, will post it here, might have the sales catalogue, It was auctioned at: OSDD Ruddington 129th. Sale, on 22 May, 1974, Lot 599/14. Cheers, Lex
  5. I did find the (not to good) pictures of the saddles, they seem to only be able to make useless video's there, and even worse pictures, sorry. These are presumed Triumph TRW, as there were many more parts from those bikes there. Lex
  6. I was offered a quantity of NOS Triumph TRW saddles from Pakistan some years ago, but my bid was not high enough, I think I lost the pictures the guy sent me, but here an NOS TRW, and a different saddle than the Universal type. Lex
  7. Also had a go with spoking the wheels, just to see if it worked, before painting the hub and rim, Indian used a complicated spoke pattern! Lex
  8. I had 2 dashboards, one chrome one, and another that needed work, but used that one in the end, as I could not persuade myself to sandblast the chrome one! Lexs
  9. Removed the old bearing races, the trick with welding a bead inside them works a treat!! They are normal cup and cone bearings, same size as Cushman wheels, so easy, had them in stock! Lex
  10. Also found an NOS Nelson muffler in the US, the embossed name of the manufacturer is at the back, so will never be seen! Lex
  11. Looks good Ron, the saddle! have about 8 pictures too from Mansfield, when I visited, probably the same year? nice restorations anyway! No worries, Lex
  12. Some more parts I found over the years. Lex
  13. Yes, I took these pictures I think? black saddles are not correct from what I've found out! But very nice, early bike. Am so happy with my saddle, looking at it while I type this, aged it a little bit with olive oil! More in the next post, so easy now with digital pictures!
  14. Here the repro's, very nice work from Jan! That last picture is my mates 640, not mine, we will be able to ride it this sping I hope, needed some work, after being restored 25 years ago in the US. Lex
  15. Here the rear rack, that I bought from a my friend in the US, thanks Robin! Then some friends needed one also so I lent my original to Jan, and he made a couple of excellent copies!!
  16. Ron, I do have all these pictures, thanks! Lex
  17. I added some to my comment, will check pictures now. Thanks, Lex
  18. Thanks Ron! I forgot about those pictures, but do have them somewhere! I will probably change the controls too, life is too short for these sort of mistakes! Won't exaggerate too much if I can help it, but the curse of the 640 is, "Oh, that's a nice 741" Will post more tomorrow. See you soon, Lex
  19. In a box of Huggies! all the way from Australia! Lex
  20. Can finally get on with the engine, the rear cylinder was fitted with a liner, and not done very nicely, so I found an nearly NOS one in Australia, and that came in the other day, cost an arm and a leg, but very happy with it! I probably came from a crated engine, that were around surplus in the 50's. Here some pictures of such a crate, don't have any pictures of the engine itself, but the little clip from the museum can be watched here: Don't pay too much attention to what he's saying, as he's more like a Harley man. 54 inches Ron!! that's what she said! Lex
  22. Found an original horn too! and worked on the speedo, that came with the bike, it's dated August 1940, but some people say it's the wrong one, time will tell I guess. Lex
  23. I managed to find an NOS headlamp, and some years later an original blackout mask, that I traded for a Harley one with a Belgian guy. Lex
  24. Ok, I will just go on with posting pictures, here the carb I had rebuilt, I still have to paint it silver, as that was as original, bought very special paint in the US to do so. The make and model are Linkert M641. Lex
  25. No worries Steve, now we both need a contract plate?? Lex
