  1. Can anyone confirm the wiring relating to a 1944 autocar?

There are two 6v batteries - independently connected to the vehicle which is something I've not seen on a WW2 American vehicle.

A wiring diagram would be great if anyone has one?

    Thankyou

    Peter

  2. Hi - I've road wheels, tracks, a small number of buffers, drivers hatch, smoke dischargers, head lights, filler pipe and cap (for rear deck of 434) - and then down to misc brackets ie fire extinguisher brackets, rear stowage compartment metal drawers (434) fold down decks for 434.

I've also one or two windscreens / canvas hood, exhaust silencer, glass lenses,

  3. Thanks for the input so far guys.

I downloaded some of the base records for Aberporth but its mainly specific to that base and doesnt provide any information about postings to other places as far as I can read.

I attach a few photos of my Grandad and interestingly a photo in Liege in 1945 where he names a few of the other men on the reverse of the photo. My grandad is back right in the photo.

  4. My late Grandfather was based as a fitter / mechanic at RAF Aberporth between 1939 and 1945, including some post in Belgium (Liege) and Germany (Wuppertal), that I am aware of.

I have obtained his military record but this does not tell me when or where he was stationed in Europe.

His record gives reference to 1609 TT / 1609 Flight, and 2007 Wg

I'm looking for advice on the best avenues to pursue in this regards

Thank you in advance for any guidance.

    Regards

    Peter

  11. I'm after an Abbott SPG radiator and header tank - Can anyone assist?

I've attached a couple of pictures - bottom of the pack shot you can see the long header tank and the top of the radiator - Then in the drivers cupola you can just about see the radiator above the gear selector. The radiator is pretty unique as it has a cut out section for the prop shaft to pass through from the engine to the drive.

  12. Thank you for the ongoing replies.

I'm working on this at weekends so apologies for no further updates so far.....however.....

I've now established that by removing the covers on the side of the engine to expose the valve springs that the can tappets are rising and falling as the engine is rotated - suggesting the cam is not broken.

There was some piston compression on the pot nearest the bulhead - so I'm again reasonably happy at this stage that the cam is fine.

So it appears that almost all the valves have stuck or are sticking!

I'm now trying to see if these can be freed off without taking the engine out and opting for a rebuild - but if I'm correct and they are all sticking open I'm thinking the odds might be against me!

Please bear with me as I continue to explore this!

    Thanks
