  10. 2 thoughts, you could be sucking air because of a bad fitting or cracked line. Also, check your coil and condenser. Both after mentioned items can be affected by heat if they are old. John G

  13. I have been following both of your build threads for years on this forum. I remember when you got excited when you view count on the Dennis build reached 500,000. With that said, your are FAST approaching 1,000,000 views on the Thornycraft build thread. Always fascinated with the molds you fabricate and the solutions you come up with trying to replicate original parts. I have no doubt you will be ready for Brighton! John G
  14. Steve, On our big trucks, Ward LaFrance Diamond T etc, we use a welting that is 1 1/2 to 2 inches wide depending on the width of the strap and 1/16 inch thick, sometimes 1/8 inch. regards John
  15. When you installed the gas tank, did you use a "anti squeak" welting between the straps and the tank. I did not see it in your pictures. If you did not, may I recommend that you do. Besides one less rattle noise it will keep the strap from rubbing into the tank. Jim Clark, the best there is, we use his canvas on all of our vehicles across the pond!   16. I have to ask, how do cope with approximate 2% reduction in size when you have pieces cast. I had several brackets cast and I had to enlarge, ever so slightly, the hole where a piece of round stock had to got thru. For a pattern, the foundry used an original bracket as a core. John G
  17. I agree with Adam, it can be tricky job, you can bolt the pump to the block and miss the rod. What I found was to rotate the engine so that the rod is at its furthest point of travel. You then push the arm up against the rod as you tighten the pump down. John G
  18. Seats were installed, canvas is from ALLIED FOROCES. All rubber products in the cab came from Diamond T Rubber company (Tom Warren in Texas), the headliner which will be installed soon was also sourced from him.
  19. Now it is time to finish trimming out the interior. I used a product called DYNAMAT Extreme on the floor area under the seats and a product called LIZARD SKIn on the interior cab roof to take some of the "tineness" out of the cab. I used a product called RAPTOR bedliner first and then placed the Dynamat on top of it. All joints were "seamsealed" as they were never sealed from the factory as far as I can tell. Take notice of the fire extinguisher mounting, When I removed it to paint there was OD paint on the panel beneath it, so I put it back that way!
  20. Final attachments/ adjustments being made, feeding the 2 rear cab bolts up thru the mount, making sure the air wiper feed lines clear the cowl...
  21. Prepping and moving the cab using a forklift to move it into position.
  22. Last Sunday was a major milestone in the refurbishments of the 969A, we reinstalled the cab. Using factory photos as a reference, the cowl was installed first and then the cab was lowered and attached to the cowl. If I was going to do this job again, I would attach both pieces together before placing them on the chassis. Getting excited about the big day.
