  1. Re the Militant;- Whilst in very bad taste & most upsetting (especially being as I'm trying to find one to photograph & measure up), you have to hand it to the grab operator for both enjoying his work, & being quite deft on the controls. Personally I think the Millie put up a brave fight. She'll be 40 or 50 Nissans by now. H
  2. Dear All, Editing my original post as I made a typing error which matters, & only just realised. Its a 6x6 Cargo I'm looking for to photograph & measure, not a 6x4 as I first stated. Apologises for confusion, but thanks to those offering 6x4 help. I'm on the scrounge for Mk1 Militant 6x6 data for the next kit in the Classic British series & wondered if any kindly Milly owner within reach of Boston Lincs might allow me crawl over their pride & joy with a camera & tape measure please? Have gathered a fair bit of info already, but you can't beat seeing one in the flesh for measurements. Anything considered, with or without its body, with or without winch. All suggestions & offers greatly appreciated. Many thanks all. Howard @ KFS kfs1@btinternet.com
  3. Tried to edit last post but its not playing....heres a direct link to the page. The first 14 pics are of test build No1, the proving rig, unpainted. Bottom 8 pics are the painted & finished 2nd build. Ta.H http://www.kitformservices.com/standard.html
  4. Af'noon all. Just posted some pictures up of the 2nd test build of the latest addition to the Classic British series. Please feel free to have a shuftie....its right at the top of the Military Range page on www.kitformservices.com http://www.kitformservices.com/standard.html Would also like to say this model was only made possible with the help & co-operation of many members of this forum who offered information, photos & guidance. Thanks again gents. I've tried to offer as much in the kit as possible without having loads of unused parts left over, & I think any variations not covered should be an easy scratch build task for most decent modellers. (i.e the alternative Chieftain stowage bin) Further adaptations in the pipe are the Wombat role version, 432/30 Rarden turret, Peak turret, possibly 438 & next year the 434 for definate (providing sales of the APC are up to the mark). Hope it meets with the approval of the collective.:thanx: Howard @ KFS
  5. Err...lets see now....if we're just talking vehicles, My Champ .....that I sold to the OC 28 Field Ambulance RAMC to buy my Mk2 Cortina 1500GT My Mk2 Cortina, ......by now replaced with the engine from 1600E & a different box My 1967 RS Camaro..... cause some b@#44ard slashed the electric soft top & I could'nt afford a new hood My 2a LWB Land Rover... which was soooo much better than the 3 Series Safari I part ex'd it for My 1974 Mercury Cougar, ...351cu in, bit of a boat on the road but great fun & very comfy After those the rest all got a bit sensible & family like. My hair..which I did`nt sell but I miss it all the same:drive: H
  6. Quote;- I am left wondering how the bus and GMC actually ended up coming together ? GMC on the wrong side of the road or the bus turning out of the side road into the path of the truck ?. I suppose another thing to consider is we're looking at the picture taken in daylight.....this could have been the result of a 'hours of darkness' accident.... blackout lamps, no street lights, even fog H
  7. Many thanks Robert. Clive also gave me your contact so you were my next fall back anyway Hopefully I'll be able to deduce what I need from the supplement (piccy worth a thousand words & all that) but if I get stumped...... Say hello to Brian Baxter for me. Regards......Howard @ KFS
  8. Just a quick one. A public thankyou to andym, who despite not being at home base, went out of his way to send me copies of the Wombat Role supplement I was after.:thanx: Also to Clive (fv1609) for pointing me in the right direction regarding EMERS for it should the supplement not have what I was after. As it happens Dougy on FV432.co.uk beat Andy to it by a few hours with the supplement. Which all goes to prove that there are a lot of helpful people on this forum & its rare not to get a good response to a question or plea for info. Genuine thanks all round. Howard @ KFS
  9. "It's in one of the supplements at the back of the FV432 User Manual, I think". I was hoping it might be....but its not in any of the manuals that I've downloaded already. Would you have a link possibly to a pdf that might cover it ? Failing that I'll give VVM a try. Cheers lads I knew someone would come up with a solution. Regards..........Howard @ KFS
  10. Evening all.... Bit of a long shot here, but its a plea for ANY information on the FV432 - Wombat mounting kit. Has anyone here seen one, served on one, got any paperwork, manuals, drawings, photographs of exactly what is involved in the conversion package ??? PLEASE. Happy to cover any costs of copies involved. Tried School of Inf Warminster, very helpful on the weapon itself but they had nothing on 432 mounting. I've read brief descriptions about ramps, a winch, & ammo stowage. I have a couple of external pics lifted from t'interweb but nothing that gives any concrete info on exactly how it was hauled up through the mortar hatch, secured in position in action, & stowed away out of action. All comments & replies welcome on here, or by PM, or can be e mailed direct to Howard @ KFS kfs1@btinternetcom Many thanks all. Howard.
  11. Hi Jim, Is the trailer frame on wheels significant to the engine project ?.....the reason I ask is because a guy in the UK has a Meteor 4B mounted on a trailer which he takes around county fairs & shows. He runs it up for the crowd & it always gathers a big crowd of appreciative onlookers. I for one would buy a ticket to see your radial run :cool2::clap: AND, are you the same JimK who helped me out so much with my model Stalwart Atlas crane project ? (I see a Stolly in the background).....if so I thank you again:bow: Good luck with the Pratt & Whitney. Howard @ KFS
  12. I believe the one in the last picture is an airfield bomb disposal vehicle.......I have another picture of that here somewhere. H
  13. Be sure to check his site & any paperwork for a VAT number, if he's charging vat then he is legally required to provide a vat reciept on demand & cannot refuse to do so. If he's charging vat but is not actually vat registered then he's in deep do-do....a quick call to HMRC is in order. Don't just swallow it mate, follow it up....you might be about to nail a wrong'en. H
  14. Fadedsun......just beat me to it........I was about to pose the same question, how can a thin steel shell filled with concrete (if prac) "wash up on the shore". And even if they're live, surely they are too compact & heavy for even the strongest tide to bring ashore ? H
  15. I would have gone for the Saracen as well, simply because it still has its turret. I was under the impression turrets were removed for the ambulance role....am I wrong then ? :undecided: Best regs.........H
  16. OUTSTANDING !!!! Superb Clive, many thanks on the dimensions....that has saved soooo much searching & scratting around for answers. Hoseman, yeah true. I can find civilian examples, the tricky bit was getting that bog seat effect confirmed. Most of the modern civy tin ones I've seen just have a constant lip right round the top. Peter, even though Clive has come up trumps with dimensions....if you see others with different content lettering, then please DO take a picture. That would be superb. Thanks in advance. Best regs.........Howard @ KFS
  17. Hi Peter, Yes mate thats the ones, dead on.....(given Chieftains thirst for lubricants & fluids in fact, its the most common place to see them outside the LAD.) :-D:-D No mad panic on these so if you get to photograph some examples & any lettering is still visible that would be an unexpected bonus :cool2: Really appreciate your help, thanks a million. Howard @ KFS kfs1@binternet.com
  18. Evening all, Just wondered if anyone can help me out with any pictures & dimensions of 70s/80s British Army 5 gallon oil drums please. As used for say, OMD 110, OEP 220 & such like. Trying to establish exactly what the top looked like so I can get some 1/24th scale ones made.....they had a bog seat shaped pressing & a flat wire ring carry handle if the old memory is working correctly. Single piccy of the top would be great, dimensions just need to be height & diameter if anyone can help, much appreciated chaps. Best regs. Howard @ KFS kfs1@btinternet.com
  19. Hello all. Thought I'd just give a heads up on the forthcoming 1/24th scale FV432 kit. We`re now on the down hill run to the finish. She goes in for casting later this week now that all the parts are organised & listed. Etchwork design is completed, decals decided on & signed off for production. I've just posted a very temporary photo of the masters only on http://www.kitformservices.com/standard.html have a shutie by all means. This is not the full kit, only the individual masters. Parts count in total is around 774 & a breakdown & description of whats what is on the page also. Price & release data TBA asap. In other news...the L118 105 Light Gun master patterns have at last got underway & with luck should be ready in 4-5 weeks time. Following the L118 is the BAT series L1-L4-L7, (one multi-kit that covers them all) & the 106 recoilless for the Champ, all of which are ready to go. The L6 WOMBAT, follows those...... if I can get the rest of the data I need. Can I just add again a big thank you to all the members who have helped out with data & photos on various projects over the past 12 months. Best regs all. Howard @ KFS
  20. Nige, That tin work is just amazing. Are you a very (very) short panel beater by trade. :cool2: H
  21. hummermark You're not alone in that mistake......the Muckleburgh museum had their BAT (complete with shield) marked up as a WOMBAT on the info board attached to it. Even had a photo of a WOMBAT on the board. WOMBAT is a different animal to all the others....apart from the side swinging breach just note the wheel size. 7.50/16 wheels as on Champ & LR = BAT series Scooter wheels = WOMBAT Best regs.......H
  22. Apart from checking the obvious for split pipes, loose connections, bad 'o' ring fits....You could also try cracking open the injector pipes at the injectors while bleeding. As fuel reaches each injector it will leak off slightly....shut each pipe union as it does so & it should start to fire on one at a time till they're all firing. H
  23. Chances are his foot was wedged firmly on the brake at this point....& when it did touch down it went sprocket over idler. Big headache & missing teeth I suspect. H
