  1. I went as a paying punter last year,on the saturday, the first time at the new site. The then organisers didn't seem to bothered about the paying public and the traffic management into the show car park was very poor. Yes operation stack didn't help but 4 hours to get 2 miles into the show was beyond a joke. To me the show lacked very little atmosphere compared to the Hop Farm. I know the reasons that the move had to be made. Living the other side of the country meant I travelled up on the Friday and stayed overnight locally all costing money, to be then having a maximum of 4 hours at the show was a little annoying. I can understand the costs involved with a show like this, but no show can exist without the exhibitors or general public. I had considered the long trip over in the GMC but the costs involved now and last year's experience have made me decide to stay with local shows where you are appreciated. It's a shame but W&P is to me no longer the show it once was for a paying member of the public let alone an exhibitor. A few local vintage shows tried to impliment a charge but this hasn't worked and have spent the last couple of years trying to get exhibitors back. Edd
  2. Yes we went I don't think any vehicles went for scrap but certainly the intention of many who bought was to break for spares. A good example of what a damp concrete bunker can do to steel. The airbourne 353 tipper made 3k the Dukw 6k land rover series 1 80" 3k, the weapons carrier breakdown conversion 2100, from what I can remember
  3. When I rebuilt my Jeep engine it was found to be sleeved during a previous rebuild by the BAOR. Steve Rivers at Dallas autos supplied a new set of liners and pistons. It may be worth getting a professional engine machine shop to measure up your block and pistons to see if they are serviceable. I've yet to see an engine with worn pistons but no wear at all in the bores. Edd.
  4. GMC 353 3 or 4 people if possible, not far away in sunny Somerset.
  5. I will try on my way past one day, is your farm Thorngrove Farm?
  6. I go through thorngove along Shepherds Drove or around through Othery.
  7. Hello Julian, Nice to hear of someone else local who's new to the Forum. I have a GMC353 and several old tractors not that far away in Huntspill, I travel through Westonzoyland every day on my way to Curry Rivel. May bump into you some time. All the best Edd
  8. Thanks all for the welcome. I will sort out some photos ASAP. I did have an 80 inch Landy but now have a 88 that is undergoing restoration to the running gear and chassis with the bodywork to stay as it is. Tim I would love to come down but can't do the Saturday, I did the tour with Richard 4 years ago from Cobbaton with the Jeep, had a brilliant day at Saunton, and weekend at yours. I am hoping to get down to you on the Sunday but in our Korean under cover car (Kia)
  9. Evening all, thought I better say hello. I have various old vehicles tractors and even a steam engine. I had a jeep that I carried out a full restoration on but sold that in 2011, and have been without a MV. After a good time away on Guernsey for the 70th anniversary of liberation, I lived on the island for 3 years and had my Jeep there, I have now bought a 43 GMC and am looking forward to getting about this summer. Hope to see some of you out and about. Edd
