  1. Sorry for the relaid, reply/bump to this thread, just been busy with non vehicle stuff! Anyway, it's more a want, than a need. With correct drawings I could make any repair sections I needed plus ensure correct alignment when fitting front frame horns etc. yes it is possible to reverse engineer from existing metal but this always has 70 years of use/abuse so won't be as accurate as original drawings plus engineering drawing make re-drawing into cad easy which opens the world of laser cutting, rather than templateing , when cutting metal, again aiding accuracy and repeatability. Given the vehicles history, I still can't believe there's not some proper blue prints out there somewhere!
  2. Interesting but not quite an MB Next best, does anyone currently have their body tub off? if so, I'd really appreciate visiting and having a good look and take photos measurements. I'm just hoping to get my head around any possible problem areas before I strip mine. Plus establishing some datums and key measurements, should I need to replace any sections. I'm midlands based!
  3. Surprisingly, he doesn't, at least not for the complete chassis anyway! He did point me to the one in the service manual but I've got that already. Someone, somewhere must have seen/had copies of the original manufacturing drawings?
  4. Ok, so just got a Jeep MB and now, I guess the work starts! Chassis wise, it's mainly ok but the front horns have been really poorly repaired. Now my question: Are there any official manufacturing drawing available for the chassis, I've seen some dimensions diagrams on line but nothing like what would be used to manufacture, something like this, in the first place? I know I can reverse engineer from what's there and use the dimension online for spring placement or use available repair sections but it be reassuring to compare and/or work from original drawings. Given how obsessive defence department are with paperwork, I'm sure they must have surfaced and been scanned by someone, better still would be if someone had converted them to cad!
  5. Not so much a reply but a request for the same info. we've just arranged to buy an MB and it'll certainly need some welding/repair panels. As one of the panels I'll need is a rear panel, I'd also seen the ones listed on ebay. Other needs possibly include a front wing (original very dented) and possibly a grill, although that might repair. I'm sure there will be more parts and more questions required :-)
  6. I found some pictures of my dad's jeep, taken in 1967, just wondering if she's still on the road reg number was: 972 DEH I'll try and get some pic's uploaded once I get them scanned
  7. Hi, I’ve also mentioned this, in the new member introductionsection but I’m looking for someone with a Jeep in the Leicester/Nottinghamarea who would be willing to hire their vehicle out. Either with them diving orjust supplying the vehicle. Long story short, my father died recently, he served in WW2and was also a Jeep enthusiast in the 1960’s and 70’s. One of his Jeeps is evenfeatured in a very early book about the Jeep. His funeral is in Leicester onthe 4th of February and myself and my two brothers think it would bevery fitting for the Funeral Cortege to be led by us in a WW2 era Jeep. We’re happy to pay to make this happen, as we’re notlooking for a freebee. Obviously it would be easier if the vehicle wasrelatively local to Leicester
  8. Hi, From Nottingham/Leicester I’m a new member living near theNottinghamshire/Leicestershire border. I’m yet to purchase my first militaryvehicle but I am actively looking for the right Willys MB Jeep. The reasons for this new urge, is verysentimental, my dad passed away last week. In the 1970’s he was a jeepenthusiast and I have many happy memories of family trips and also watching himwork and tinker on these vehicles. He also served in WW2, where he worked onand drove many vehicles, including jeeps. He served in the 2ndLothian and Borders, during the Italian campaign. Although I can’t find theoriginal, I know a photo of one of his jeeps featured in a early book aboutthese vehicles. So that’s me, weaned on Jeeps as a child and looking to jointhose ranks again. In the meantime, I’m also looking for someone willing orable to hire a WW2 jeep to lead my dad’s funeral cortege, this takes place inLeicester on the 4th of Feb, so I’ve not got much time to arrangeit. I know it’s a longshot!
