  1. An update to this thread I contributed to some time ago. R Crawford's Sherman & Valentine Crawler Tractors made rare appearances and were both on display this weekend at the Carrington Rally, Lincs. The Valentine has been buried in the undergrowth for many years and pulled out just prior to the event for it's public debut:
  2. Correct, I was too busy enjoying a last look at the two Lancs together to take much notice of the fighters, especially as Vera was leading the formation for once...:-D
  3. Vera on way home to Canada, flew over Waddo earlier with BBMF Lanc, 3x Spitfires and 1 x Hurricane, great sight, sound and send off.
  4. Both Lancs flew together today three times, they have just completed an evening practise with Spitfire & Hurricane in tow, ready for the Authority display tomorrow and onto Biggin Hill for the weekend. The sight & sound of two Lancs landing in the low evening sun was spine tingling! Just one teaser pic from earlier:
  5. Vera just completed some solo practise displays over Coningsby, later joined by Hurricane PZ865 for some formation flying. Couple of pics taken from my back garden, :-)
  6. Plans are more than afoot, 21st Aug, x2 Lancaster’s and x1 Vulcan will be flying from Waddington.
  7. I don't know about "drop everything and travel a considerable distance" but I did manage to drag myself out the office and walk round to the front of the building to watch it leave on Friday morning, along with many others on the Station I may add, well worth the effort too
  8. Many classic aircraft have passed thru Connie Edwards hangars in Texas over the years; some have remained to gather dust such as the BoB Film Buchons & Spitfire he acquired post filming. He also still owns a Sherman tank which until recent times is/was a runner. The BoB Film B-25 was known as the ‘Psychedelic Monster’ due to its high vis colour scheme for air to air filming, flown by the late John ‘Jeff’ Hawke an equally colourful character whom I had the pleasure of meeting at many airshows in the early eighties during my BBMF days. Jon
  9. Sad to hear the news that one of the Panton brothers Fred has passed away aged 82. The brothers are owners of Lancaster NX611 and the Lincolnshire Aviation Museum at East Kirkby. A true gentleman, always a pleasure to chat to, RIP Fred.
  10. In addition, there was a Chieftain at the entrance to the Manby complex, I think most of the armour at Manby has now moved on, Robert Crawford has his Sherman tractor near Boston, not seen the Centurion near Coningsby for many years, was a runner, maybe still stored, and also what may pass thru Withams at Colsterworth. Mr Woods M4 High Speed Tractor is local to Lincs too I believe. Jon
  11. Was already on my list of events to attend, considering I wimped out travelling last year because of the weather, good line up again...
  12. Is this event likely to be affected by the Tour de France event on the same weekend?
  13. Looked good at the Victory show, well done guys.
