  2. Hi everyone Does anybody have a picture of the hull number and exact location on a Saracen? I’ve looked back through and old thread but the only picture I found was poor quality and didn’t really expand on the location, the Saracen is an up armoured mk5, we were told the hull number is above the rear doors and stamped in the escape hatches, the hatch numbers we have found but would like to find the hull number, we have cut the armour above the rear doors but no number, any help would be appreciated.

  6. hi Civilian type registrations, I found appear to have been fitted to Ex-army Ambulances used by the Red Cross on D-Day the vehicles were just out of warranty(12months old/ 10,000miles). post war Champs (RGX,PJJ,PLF(1954) carried civilian registrations, when on army evaluation, JLR being a batch (1947) that cover Austin K2Y ambulances, Gutty 4x4
  7. Having missed 2022 I'd really like to attend, or at least help out if I can or hitch a ride or spectate, but can't find any details except the Facebook page, and there's no registration link? How do I sign up?

  10. I have been involved with military vehicles as a hobby for 40+ years, and have collected around 150 Ruddington sales catalogues and many workshop manuals. Back in the 1970's and 80s there was not so much interest in military vehicles and publications were easy to find and inexpensive. I started attending the Ruddington sale around mid 70's until the end.
  11. The Middlesex C.C. registrations (RMH, JMK, RMK, PMK, ...) were all issued to the War Department, prior to early September 1939 (war declaration). After that date military vehicles no longer had civilian registrations. Unfortunately the Middlesex C.C. registration ledgers haven't survived. The Home Office did use civilian registration numbers for its vehicles during the war. I think GGU 519 is one of these.
  12. As this lorry has gone through a "Class 1 rebuild" (H17xxxxx census number), you may find a data plate somewhere in the engine bay or in the cabin, giving more information about this rebuild. See also this thread, bottom of page 1:
  13. OOPS, my bad. I meant the Armour and embarkation event. My mate seems to have been able to register. Payment will be made soon. Thanks.
  14. I don't suppose he bothered? He's not going to ride it and it's too heavy to steal without a Hiab. Ron
  15. Adrian Armour and Embarkation event in Dorset in the summer. Tim
  16. Hi @Enigma I can't help, but could you make your request a little clearer? A&E in the UK is Accident and Emergency, so it looks as if you are trying to go to hospital... (-: Best Regards, Adrian
  17. Morning Ron. I guess this is the two-wheel version of the Beaverette: a needs must development. I wonder in what manner the builder of the replica notified his insurer of the modifications?
  18. Re: the caption under the first image on the magazine page, here is a Nazi vehicle in the 'Pill-Box' role. I think they may have given the concept a little more thought...
  19. The replica armoured 3SW was built by Sean Walsh. He brought it to our Goodwood revival motorcycle field workshop display one year. I literally couldn't lift it off its side stand. But I have got a knackered right elbow. 🥴 Sean said he did actually ride it once in the quiet road where he lives. Ron
  20. Edit; registration sorted by my mate. Payment soon to be made. I did get the email to register but no Booking Form attached, only the Googly link. I answered on that email but no reply. I am not good at computer stuff so would like to use the form and just email it. Please help.
  21. And I though kick starting the elastico 3HW was a challenge! Thanks for the additional images. A
  22. Thanks Lex. Stunning! What are we guessing for the all-up weight? A
  23. Here an article about it, and the replica. Lex
  24. Adrian, yes, have the series, and someone even made a replica! It was more like for airfield defense and such, not to cover huge distances. The bike is a Triumph 3 SW. (or 5SW) Cheers, Lex
  25. Morning all. Does anyone have any additional images of this monster? In particular, how was the armour stowed when not acting as 'cover from fire'? All the best. A
