  1. The Sabre was built from a Scimitar experimental hull and there were only four made. As far as we are aware it’s the only one left in existence, so it has a bit of provenance. It had a Scorpion turret on when it arrived at Rapid Restorations, but has since been changed to a Sabre turret. This road registered, petrol-engined Sabre still has all the prototype driver’s controls – so the dash has a key to start, no generator box, just direct from alternator. There are holes on the inside of the fighting compartment where, back in the day, the weight bar was situated to simulate crew and internals for trials. We can help with export and transport if required. Price £42,000 Please call 07980 449 721 for more information.

  3. Good afternoon all, I am really struggling to fill the V55/5 in and can't seem to find out how to fill in all of the fields, despite using the V355-5 guide to filling it out. Does anyone who has successfully registered a Sabre/Scimitar/Scorpion have a copy of one completed? I'm really struggling with the weights, tax class, (I am assuming 'Crawler' from what I've read?), wheelplan etc (or do I just use what I find out the web?) basically the whole form!!!! To prepare, I have the Sabre fully insured on its military number and I also have all of the age report etc from IMPS on their letter headed paper which includes service history etc. My other question is around tax and MOT. The guidance states that I need to include the latest MOT and also payment for tax, but as the manufacture date is 1971, it appears that the Sabre is both tax and MOT exempt. Reading on though, it seems as though you have to apply for those statuses once the vehicle is registered, so how does that work? It was purchased from Military Vehicle Solutions fully restored earlier this year although I don't have any paperwork for that. Any help to fill this in would be massively appreciated as I'm feeling a little lost with it all... Cheers, Alex
  4. Hi guys - we are looking for a Fox, Sabre, Scimitar or Saladin turret. Whilst it would be great for it to be as complete as possible - anything will be considered! Do please message me if you've got something we might be interested in - or if you could point us in the right direction. Many, many thanks Cheers Graham

  13. Alvis Sabre CVR(T) In service condition. Was used at some point for Ops force in exercises. Has clansman intercom working and clansman 353 radios. Replica Rarden and chain gun and spoke discharges. Spare sprockets idlers and road wheels. Full set of periscopes except for the infa-red drivers scope. The Gunners infa-red scope is still fitted to the turret. Have some spares, tools and also some CES spare intercom parts and headset, crew helmets. Have a full set of spare track with 80% wear left in them but this is by separate negotiation £3000. Located in Sheffield South Yorkshire. £22,500.00 OVNO If interested please call 0740 15 19 117. Sorry won't be supplying any further photos due to previous time wasters if your genuinely interested come and have a look :cool2: Any test drives unfortunately will have to be charged but this of course will be deducted from the final selling price. Sorry to have to add this but due to time wasters and those wanting free "tank Rides" have had to make this decisions. If genuine I see no problem and depending on the potential buyer if felt was truly interested would have paid for a ride when I was looking. As with everything over the years I had owned this CVR(T) I have been abel to get more parts and equipment to go with the vehicle.

  17. Hi my name is Al Hale and I reside in Vernon, B.C. Canada. I recently sold my business I started from ground up which was waste management. I also am a heavy duty mechanic and enjoy it as a hobby and am fascinated with military vehicles . I am currently looking for a CVRT Scorpion Sabre light tank to restore . I am looking forward to meeting new people and friends with similar interests, Al.

  19. Two months ago I took all the documents to my local DVLA office to try and register my Sabre. I have previously registered an Abbot and, three years ago, a CVRT Striker with no problems..... ...however our local office (Worcester) is due to close this month and no longer deal with first registrations.... they checked all my documents and kindly forwarded them on to DVLA Swansea. To cut a long story short... two months on and vehicle not yet registered.... Today, after much chasing, I received this email.... Hi Mr Donovan I’ve spoken with our Business Integration Team and they have advised that now the applications have been centralised, we must ensure that the vehicles are being correctly registered and this is why they are seeking advice with regards to the Construction and Use Regulations. They are chasing the matter with our Policy Section, so I should have more information for you shortly. The question is are CVRTs fully compliant with C & U regs ???
  20. Another milestone..... the end is in sight !!
  21. CVRT Sabre TN15 Gearbox Noise. Your views on whether the rasping / grating noise is anything to worry about would be much appreciated. It appears to be coming from the centrifugal clutch area.... as soon as the clutch engages it disappears. The gearbox works fine all gears work as they should. This gearbox was supplied as "having a noise" so I decided to fit it to try and diagnose the fault. I have a good gearbox which will be fitted if necessary. Note: I do have another radiator with a new core to replace the existing one !! " width="644" height="390">">Something went wrong... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H9lLR1P0CrY
