Good Morning all, We have purchased a 1944 Scammell Mechanical Horse. Does anyone have or know of any trailers available for us to purchase? Kind Regards Lawrence

Sadly I am having to sell my Scammell. it has had many hours put into it, complete new clutch fitted, work done on the engine, air system, cab etc. I have fitted the Pioneer with a heavy duty double oscillating fifth wheel so off road capability is not lost. The trailer has been made from an ex MOD Dyson trailer with a bolt on king pin adaptor which can be removed in minutes so that the trailer and Scammell can be pulled by a standard tractor unit. There are a few small jobs left to finish but starts on the button and runs fine. This lorry can be driven on a car licence. Maybe willing to sell the trailer separately if someone has a TRMU and would like it. realistic offers please. 01591 610322

Hi Guys, I have a scale modelling project in the planning stages. I want to make an Aussie Vietnam-era tank transport combination in 1:25 scale. I have the Tamiya Cent that I will build and modify to Aus spec, and I may have a source for drawings for the trailer and dolly. What I have been unable to find are a good set (or even a single one!) of dimensioned technical drawings of a Leyland / Scammell Contractor. I have heaps of photos of one in a museum here, but no drawings. Is anyone able to point me in the right direction where I might source such drawings? I have been combing the web looking for years. You can find my pics, and many other MV walkaround galleries, on my website: grubby-fingers-aircraft-illustration.com. I look forward to hearing your ideas. Kind regards, Graeme (Grubby Fingers) Molineux.

Hi all, We are Paul and Jenny from sussex and we have just bought our first Scammell Explorer and the adventure or nightmare has begun. So begins the restoration. We are on a huge learning curve but fortunately have so many friends with experience and hope to gain new friends to help along the way.

Hello Everybody Many people who have been rallying in the South of England will need no introduction to me. I am Brian Carter and I drive a Scammell Pioneer SV/2S recovery vehicle that is painted in civilian Green. It's been in these colours since I forst painted her in the winter of 1977/78. She has the name of Dewrance and has been featured in several magazines as well as on the telly in the 35 years since I first became involved with her as s teenager. My wife and I bought the lorry in 1987 just after the big storm and have since added a Scammell Pioneer R100, Ex-military Series 3 LWD FFR Land Rover, A towed Scammell Fire Pump and a couple of Scammell wheelbarrow fire pumps. Christine, my wife, drives the R100 and also the recovery one when necessary. If you see us at the shows, come and say hello. Brian C AKA Dewrance

Hi Could anyone please help me with the power steering on my S26 SLDT, The problem started after the vehicle had been left standing for a while, when at a T-junction and turning left the steering goes really really heavy about half way to full lock, it turns right fine. So I had a look in the old manual which suggested the steering box was at fault, as I had another S26 that turns fine I swapped the boxes and guess what the fault is still there, I don't think it is the power pump as surely it would do it when turning right also? I've checked the King Pins etc and all moves freely ball joints are all OK, hydraulic levels fine, (have changed the fluid and filter) Now I'm thinking it could be as simple as an air lock, so how do you bleed the system??? I've jacked the vehicle up taking the wait off the wheels and with the engine running turned from lock to lock 10 times with no difference, do I need to crack the high pressure pipe from the pump to the box with engine running to bleed? Any help would be great as i'm stuck/lost! Regards, Arran

Hi everyone, I'm Duncan from east ayrshire, just come across the site whilst looking for Scammell information! I've had a good numbers of vehicles in the last 10 years of my driving history, only MV's would be 101's of which I still have a pretty tidy GS. I've just bought a basket case Scammell Pioneer from Newcastle so I shall be posing progress on the restoration as soon as I get it home. Any info on Pioneers would be gratefully received!!! :coffee: Me and the girlfriend should be doing a few shows this year, hope to see you all soon! Duncan
