  1. Good Evening all My name is Ciaran; I am the events coordinator at the mental health charity Havering Mind. In July this year we will be holding our 4th annual ‘Wings & Wheels’ Family Festival at Damyns Hall Aerodrome Upminster, on Sunday 22nd July. In the previous 3 years of running this event we have had great success with an estimated 4000 people attending each year, as well as 100s of cars, bikes and other vehicles on display, fun fair, beer tent, stalls, the local radio station and live music throughout the day. It has become a well-recognised and great family day out in Havering. Last year we successfully expanded to incorporate Military Vehicles. This year we will be doing the same, with more space dedicated to a ‘Military Zone’ with Living history exhibits also now attending. Military vehicles and living history exhibitors will be able to camp from Friday 20th July, 12 noon onwards until Monday 23rd, 12 noon. As well as showing your vehicles to the public on Sunday 22nd, there will be food, bar and a free live music concert on Saturday evening for exhibitors! See attached poster for more information. If you are travelling to the War and Peace Revival, which opens on 24th July, then why not use this as a convenient break on your journey? The airfield is just off the M25, and only 5.5 miles from the Dartford crossing. Would you like to exhibit at our event? If so, please contact me for more information. ciaran.white@haveringmind.org.uk
  2. I hope they find a new site, great show. This was on there facebook site. MILITARY AND FLYING MACHINES RESTING FOR ONE YEAR The military heritage preservation charity, Essex HMVA, regrets to announce their flagship event, Military and Flying Machines will unfortunately not take place in 2018. The Essex HMVA were unable to comply with the terms and conditions that had been imposed upon us by the landowner at Blackwater, and as a result were regrettably unable to secure the site used for last year’s show in 2017. In addition, negotiations to use a nearby site have also not been successful. Given these delays, the trustees have agreed the best course of action would be not to hold Military and Flying Machines in 2018 and instead rest the show for one year, with a view to return in 2019, the proposed dates for the show will be the 10th and 11th of August 2019. We realise this will be a great disappointment for those who have continued to support the event over the past 10 years, however the trustees are committed to returning in 2019 with a show. We intend to use the year as an opportunity to review and improve the organisation and planning processes for the show and more importantly to find a suitable permanent location and would welcome any suggestions from interested parties who feel they could support us with suitable venues. We would like to thank all those who have supported us so far and continue to help us - in particular, we would like to thank Maldon District Council for their ongoing assistance in trying to find a suitable alternative site so that the 2018 show could go ahead.
