Ventured slightly out of my comfort zone at the War and Peace Revival this year and ended up purchasing an FV434 on the last day. Prior to the show I had already worked on it and recovered it from a muddy hole, so I am fairly certain it's a sound vehicle. I have applied for the forms from the DVLA, V55/5, and have a friend who has registered his FV432 and offered some advice. Obviously I need to prove it's age to avoid a Q plate as seen on an FV436 (?) at W&P. Can anyone give me a clue where the build/shell number is? I can't see it in the similar place (left of rear door, tiny plate) on an FV432. Does anyone have the GKN Sankey records for the build date? IMPS or MVT for confirmation of the information found? I assume it will have been built long enough ago to be deemed an Historic, but haven't found specific info for FV434's? Any info/comments would be hugely appreciated. Jules

Good afternoon, Just became a new member of this forum. Thank you for allowing me to become one. Let's say something about me. I am a Dutchman, 62 years and retired for about 10 years. Me and my wife are living in Hungary for the last 8 almost 9 years. We have plenty of room around us so driving a tank would not be such a problem. Also a lot of sand roads and a former military area close by were 20 years ago the Hungarian ary practiced off road riding. I saw a lot of old sovjet tanks which are for sale around us. I drove a 30 ton VT 55 called the Bull. A nice tank but very big and little space inside. After a long search I found a FV434 in Belgium whic I managed to buy. The seller and his wife are noce people who intend to move to .... Hungary! When retired you have a lot of time and here in Hungary there is not a lot of time pressure. So I have some other hobby's like restorating oldtimers ( at the moment busy with two Armstrong Siddeley star sapphires ) and riding horses. If anyone wants to drop by you are very welcome to do so. Evening all. I’ve started restoration of our newly acquired 434, and I’m going to be after a few bits and pieces. I know who the “go to” guys are for CVRT bits, but have no contacts for 434 parts. can anyone point me in the right direction please? I’m familiar with some of the general surplus dealers, but some of the bits i’m after, will be take-offs, like plates, brackets, the fitters penthouse tent etc. Any help appreciated, Regards, Si Hangar 53

Hi all, thought I would post up about the vehicle! To be honest with you im completely new into this and often branded nuts due to my age! haha. Not often you get someone going out to buy a tank over a fast car or some holiday to spain! So onto the tank! I recently purchased a FV434 from a collector which is from 1968 and ending service i believe in 2007. I really dont know much more about the history but thats on the to do card. There is me primarily involved in keep this thing up and running however a lovely rookie bunch of friends are all to willing to help and was sort of a joint idea to start a bit of a blog, mainly at first as somewhere we could put all the pictures we take but also as a little record of the things we are getting up to. Ill provide the link here to the blog so you can nip over and then see all the pictures, most are at lovely high res so no tiny thumbnails or anything. Anyhow ill stop rambling but hope you enjoy it! Blog is here: http://02ed31.blogspot.co.uk/
