What can I say?

BLOODY FANTASTIC!

Me and the boys had a great time.

The highlight for me was meeting up with army at the FIBUA village, what a great bunch of guy's, one of the soldiers even fitted the strap to my SA80 for me and showed me how it worked.

A big thanks to tony, dave and pete for all thier effort in making this one of the best weekends me and the boys have ever had. We even had hot water all weekend thanks to the big water pot supplied by the couple with the big tent.

Dave's breakfast's were excellent and a very welcome sight in the mornings.

We saw loads of army vehciles all weekend and the off road track was superb.

Roy at the bustard inn was great and made us all feel very welcome.

The RTV convoy was brilliant, but jack you need a HAIRCUT!!!, as your jimmy came towards me I thought a woman was driving it:shocked::whistle:

See you all again next year.

You weren't away that long were you:cool2::cool2:

You can't believe how pleased I was that the two events managed to cross paths, albeit briefly. I'm not sure if you were parked-up by chance or whether Tony had carefully picked his spot hoping we would steam by, but I would have loved to have seen the convoy from standing atop of the two Wards with the Birds Eye View.

We were down on numbers a little on the Sunday convoy. The International Half Track dropped a valve on the Saturday evening, so we thought it unwise to trundle it all the way to Netheravon on Sunday and Jim Clark was suffering from severe toothache and had to leave the Mack at Ramsbury. Rex Ward had also left off early by then to head over to Andover and of course all the tanks naturally didn't venture out that far either.

In the future, we must make sure the events don't clash again! It was our fault, as HMVF had the same weekend last year if I'm not mistaken.

A couple of pics of the convoys below.

PS - Did you see anything of the C-47 landing and taking off from Netheravon?

yes we were parked there after seeing the plane land and i then shot down to the airfield to check exactly when you were leaving

so if you saw a landrover 109 by the escort riders about 5 minutes before you departed then that was me

we were planing to set up either side of the crossing and put a checkpoint sign out to check for any suspicious people ie jack and hold any new pink cushion to ransom.

next year the date will be the same the first bank holiday weekend in may

Not long got home after one of the best weekends I've had in a while. 101 didn't miss a beat even in the deep water, look forward to seeing the piccies later.

Thanks to David, Tony and crew for organising a brilliant weekend. I'll try and post up the routes we took off my GPS, we did around 50 miles over the 2 days, most of it off road.

Thanks also to Clive for lending me the sleeping bag, mine was destroyed along with most of my clothes when my spare battery fell over on them on the way there, that and Sunday's hangover were the only minor problems on a great weekend!

Hi Clive Myself and Yogi lay awake most of the night planning the welcoming party for you guys. We had no times to go on so it was just a case of seeing the Dak flying into Neatheravon while we were all playing in the water at Tidworth. Word was you were having a roast and a walk around and then you were setting of back to base. It was just a case of getting to Zulu and parking, the Jerry cans were not my idear but it was funny. Good to see you all.

I really have to say that was one of the funniest things that has happened to me. I absolutely nearly wet myself with laughter. I take my hats off to those who thought of it and pulled that together.

It just came out of the blue as we were just sat there driving along until Jess shouted WARD LA FRANCE’S and then I saw Rose with her HMVF top on and I thought to myself – ‘hold on, I know these folks’ then I started to see all of the faces and the massive smiles and then I nearly fell out of the cab when I saw everyone lining the road swinging and shaking jerrycans in the air – absolutely hilarious!! It really was.

I really wasn’t expecting it. The guys I had in the back off the truck said ‘did you see those guys standing along the road shaking jerrycans – there are some strange people in this part of the world……’!

I heard someone shout Jack whilst at Netheravon look around and thought I saw Dave but thought better of it – why would Dave be at Netheravon……I wanted to stop but couldn’t otherwise Clive would have had words with me

It made my weekend and still laughing about it now!

Sorry Jack, I think it was my suggestion about the jerry cans, with that long up hill drag thought you might need some fuel by the time you got to the top :cool2:

Good to see you and such a well turned out bunch of trucks..

Ok - your name is now in my little black book :cool2:

On a serious note Rich, we went up some very steep hills. Loaded up with people and had to drop down to second many times. They just crawl their way up those hills and you can here that it must suck the fuel through. I was behind the Diamond T's going up the hill out of Ramsbury - I was just hoping that they weren't going to change gear as then I would have to go down to 1st gear.

It goes to show how important it is to select the correct gear in these situations - loved it!
