Imagine you were given a hanger on an operational airfield and told you could fill it with 10 (WW2) aircraft, what would be your choice?

Me, i'd go for

1 Mosquito fighter bomber V

2 Lancaster B1 special

3 North american P82 twin Mustang

4 P47 thunderbolt probably the D model

5 Lockheed P38 Lightening

6 Focke Wulf Ta 152

7 Bristol Beafighter

8 Ilyushin Il-2 Stormovik

9 Yak 9D

10 Messserschmitt Me 262

and on the substitutes bench probably A Gloster Gladiator! (just because they did so well in Malta!!!)

Oh boy, now you've got me drooling!

1 ) Boeing B-17G BO-1 #42-31035 "Hang The Expense"

2 ) Republic P-47N Thunderbolt "Big Stud"

3 ) Vultee A-35B Vengeance ( Dive Bomber )

4 ) Hawker Hurricane Mk1

5 ) Douglas A-26B Invader ( complete with full set of 26 x .50 cals )

6 ) Consolidated PBY5a Catalina

7 ) Focke-wulf 190A

8 ) Miles Magister ( Having flown one and thought it great )

9 ) Short Sunderland

10 ) Petlyakov Pe2 ( Russian twin engined dive bomber and fighter/bomber )

The first three aircraft would be painted the same as my 1/6 scale fleet.

The Hurricane Mk1 would have the wooden wing, and be in a BoB half black half white scheme.

Invader beacuse it was such an awesome machine. It could out run or out turn a Bf109 so you had the choice to run or fight.

Catalina coz Lynne loves it. It was the first plane she could identify.

Sunderland. I used to live in Sunderland and always loved the bulk of the machine.

Pe2 Just really like the shape.

1 Spitfire ... any marque they're all lovely

2 Hurricane... magnificent

3 Mosquito... sleek

4 P47 Thunderbolt... agressive looking, purposeful

5 B-17... needs no reason to be here... it just should ;-)

6 Liberator (always looks like a fat goose in flight)

7 Short Stirling... big lump of a thing but more 'masculine' in appearance than the Lancaster

8 FW190 very sleek looking almost stylish

9 Messerschmitt Me 163 Komet (looks cute but dangerous... for all concerned!)

10 JU87... ugly but iconic
