enzus59
Hi All, which is a Land Rover model used in Aden emergency (see attached pic)? Thanks in advance. Enzo
10FM68
That looks like a standard 109" wheelbase General Service Series 2A Land Rover, in military parlance a Rover 9, dating from the early sixties. 10

ruxy
Just to split-hairs , the Aden emergency ended Nov. 1967 , IIRC the Rover 9 production ceased April '67 when a few 'up-grade' were made - the model continuing being the Rover 11. This early Rover 11 being external more or less identical in appearance to the Rover 9 About April 1969 the appearanace of the Rover 11 radically changed - the headlamps moved from the radiator panel to the front wing panels and the sill depth decreased - so the fuel tanks were then more visible - unfortunately your photograph can't be expanded for a 'rivet-count' . So probablity ratio 8/
10FM68
No, Ruxy, you aren’t splitting hairs, you’re simply wrong - it isn't a Rover 11. The vehicle is a Rover 9. ERM 18DM44 from a batch of 227 from Apr 1961. It was probably serving with D Battery 3 RHA, Seederseer Lines, Aden in the period Aug 62 - Feb 63. 10
