Stretch35
After the hassles of finals, I found out the local museum I volunteer at near my college is currently about undergo a restoration to restore their M551 Sheridan to running condition. Pretty sure they'll leave out trying to find a firing mechanism due to the rarity of 152mm ammunition and missiles not to mention the forms and price of having a live gun. However, it's still nice to see a piece of history not be forgotten. They let employees inside the tank on occasion to inspect the interior for rust and damage, so I'll have to get some photos of the interior next time before they move it to a workshop. Stretch35
What other vehicles do they have? Photos of different stuff always are appreciated I'll have to get some more detailed photos of the helicopters they have there, but I've got a few photos of them from one of my buddies. They've got a Bell UH-1 Iroquois (Huey), a Kaman SH-2F Seasprite, a Douglas A-4C Skyhawk, and a twin 40mm Bofors station taken from a Cruiser. The vehicles aren't the spectacular part though, the guns man, so many guns. Japanese Artillery, a 14.5mm KPV Machinegun, Jap Machineguns, Cannons and rifles, a Lahti L-39 20mm AT Rifle, Lewis Machineguns, .50's, .30's, MG 13's and MG 15's, STG 44's, M2 Flamethrowers, MG 08/15 complete with a stand and diorama, MP 40's, a rare M1941 Johnson, and a whole lot more including proper uniforms ranging from the American Civil War, WWI, WWII, Korea and Vietnam. Newcoregon
yeh; those Sheridans were the main stay [heavy] of the 11th ACR in Vietnam! "Find the b...ds and pile on!" The 11 th cav was a fight hungry unit. We would bust right thru the jungle [brush] and into the hidden base camps. It would be fun to id that vehicle.
