WW1 era Luger wanted

Can anyone advise me please on the purchase of a WW1 era Luger as used by the German troops, preferably, 1914-16.

I have seen a few but because I do not know anything about these guns I need your help. I assume I look for matching numbers, dated, reasonable condition for its age? Are these reliable indicators?

One of the best places to do research is 'Forgotten Weapons.Com' Ian has many vids on You Tube giving detailed info on such things. Trouble is an original s going to cost a packet due to cult following. If it is for show or renactment some good air soft are available.

Have you seen this ad, it includes a 1917 Luger from Bridhead Militaria, just outside the date range but may be if interest.

http://www.milweb.net/webvert/a2174

there was another ad on Milweb for a 1913 dated Luger as well. And if I remember correctly one of the deactivated sellers had quite a few different Lugers on their web site. I R ember seeing them because I didn't realise how many different types models there were.

cheers,

julian
