Deciphering vehicle record cards

The Code has been variously known as the Vehicle Code Number, Asset Code, VESPER Code, Forward Equipment Code, etc

The first four digits form the Establishment Code Number & the last four define the make, model or mark.

Lists of what they meant would appear in Equipment Regulations Pam No.8 then more readily in EMER MANAGEMENT J 022 Looking in the 1992 edition I see:

0112 4111 Ferret Mk 1/1 Liaison (VHF)

0112 4001 Ferret Mk 1/1 Liaison FV701J FFC (VHF)

PS FFC = Fitted For Clansmen

Thanks to you both for your replies. I had been wondering if the conversion codes meant it had been changed in-service to a Mk 1/2, but it looks more likely the turret was fiited after it left the army. I'd love to know it's history prior to 1967 but don't know how to go about finding it out

I've just tried searching for this book, rarer than chicken teeth!

funny, I was JUST about to try myself, must be an ex ferreter or two with unwanted copies :)

p.s Would anyone with the book, (or any other source of info) know anything of Mk 2, Military number 02DA42 (ferret)?

Cheers

Jim
