Masseyboy89 Posted August 24, 2015 Share Posted August 24, 2015 Hi all - hopefully you can solve a mystery for me I have 'large' 1941 dated zuckerman helmet in my collection. It is stencilled with 'C.P.' on the front. Can anyone advise as to what this stands for? My best guess is 'Civilian protection' but I'm sure I'm wrong! jenkinov Posted September 2, 2015 Share Posted September 2, 2015 Whilst civilians the helmet markings would follow civilian defence guidelines..So CP was Command Post..common were SFP street fire party and FG fire guard. You could buy them pre war for 5shillings but it seems unlikely a civilian would add CP as during a raid he could cause confusion...with fire watchers .police and firemen potentially seeking direction to the firebombings They were not used post war. jenkinov Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
