Enigma
Today my brother and me went to Hartenstein to meet our veteranfriend, Jeff Haward MM, a very friendly man. But there were a lot of veterans there among one with a 43rd Wessex patch on his beret. Mr John Kendall, 179 Field Art. Regt. R.A. I went to him and said I recognised the badge but also told him I wear a black beret with recce badge daily as a tribute to the 43rd Recce. He was pleased and told me he had a badge and looked for someone to gave but had forgotten it. Then he got out a Original Artillery beret emblem and gave it to me. I was very surprised and hardly knew what to say but thanked him wholeheartedly. When the taxi's arrived to take the veterans back I started to look for him and saw him. So i asked if he was sure and again thanked him for the honor. Tomorrow is our wardead commemoration day and we'll attend several ceremonies. We will remember them!!!!
