Autocar U-7144 T

Hi,

This truck and trailer was used by the Swedish Airforce between 1947 and 1960.

I bought it in 2013 in this condition from a man that restored it 20 years ago, but never finished it.

So I started the restored engine for the first time on december 31.

It run nicely, but the radiator was leaking.

So now I have removed the radiator, had it repaired, and is now working with the front sheet metal.

I am not satisfied with the bodywork and details.

One problem with finishing what somebody else started, is that I don`t know how everything originally was put together.

Therefore I would like to get in contact with other Autocar owners that could help me with questions like:

  • Should there be a moulding between the body and front fender?
  • Is the headlights the same as GMC, Diamond T etc? They look the same but the partnr is different...
  • How does the insulation on the inside of the hood look?
  • How does the bracket for the blackoutlamps look?

Regards

Mats

Wasn't it L-E Pettersson and the other guys around him that restored it? I remember seeing it years ago at P10 in Strängnäs in half finished state.

Maybe you could contact the guys who restored this one:

Good luck, you always turn out great quality resto work.

Hi Goran,

Yes, that´s the one. It is Lars-Erik Petersson sitting at the steeringwheel on the second picture.

He delivered it to me in spring 2013, and we unloaded it 1km from where I live.

So I towed it home with my Diamond T, Lars-Erik steering the Autocar.
