Hi Fellows

I want to build a Dummy PIAT, to carry on my British Airborne Jeep Project

Can you help me with some measures?

Any of you have a PIAT?

I made this drawing with measures identified by the letter A to Q

PIAT.jpg

Q is a diameter tube

I think I can build with PVC pipes and metal parts

Thanks in advance

Regards!

Isn't there a metal and wood copy out there being made with dummy rounds too?

I was looking a while ago for my ww2 para display!

OMG Ron!:wow:

It makes me very happy to see these measures in the drawing!

I am very grateful to you!

I can now start to look for materials and build the projector!

If I need some other measure, I can ask for it?

Best regards!;)

If you have the capability and skills. Make the whole thing and working. I have seen replicas selling for silly money.

I wonder if I could be lucky with drawings/pictures of a hand spike for my 2 pounder anti tank gun?

I'll try to build it as similar as possible.

I do not know the power has the spring, but if I give a little boost, look good!

Andy, you mean regulations in UK?

More jobs measurements for Ron!

Nobody else wants to build one?

Thank you very much for yor time and comments!

In these last few hours I've been looking for standard pipe sizes, and so far I did not find anything about 70 mm.

I think I will need make the 70 mm tubing using a rolling machine! :banghead:

I'll keep investigating!:coffee:

I'm sure I could source some thick walled 2 3/4" tube here in UK. But Paz will have to manage where ever he is. I'm guessing Argentina?? Anyway here are the other details. The end of shaft 'C' looks smaller on mine than it does in your picture? Possible different MK's or manufacturers! Ron

Forget that 70mm tube! Try and find some 2 3/4 inch stuff Ha Ha. I'll get round to those other measurements later. Will have to unlace my canvas butt cover!!!!!?????

Ron

Ron Apologies if there is difficulty making the measurement, we can take this photo approximate measurements!

A friend advised me to visit a scrap store . There may be a piece of pipe 70 mm in some old machinery.

That good idea to seek some Exhaust pipe!!

EDIT: Thank you Ron!!! all lenght shaft have the same diameter?

I've only ever cocked and fired mine a couple of times (with no projectile). It takes a lot of effort to cock the thing and the recoil can be very painful if you don't hug the But very tightly into your shoulder.

As a matter of interest. Jeremy Clarkson's (from TV's Top Gear) Father in Law won a VC at Arnhem for attacking three German tanks with a PIAT and firing it from the hip!!! Ron

First I never have in my hands original one, I have only repro from bajonets and battledress with original demiled bomb. It was time when I was haghly interested about this gun.

I know this shot from movie. I am not sure if the piat will be so efective again Panther tank. From this angel is heavy armor.

Wht I am remember from Arnhem memories, what I have readed. the soldier has used a few bombs again Pz IV, this tank was litle bit demaged and come back wit own power to the gemany line.

look they are using bomb without pyro composition what was used for bomb fly

For the first shot you have pull the spring by legs in laying or stand. If I am rememberign corect it is equivalent 90 kg for pulling the spring. The bomb fly with spring and pyro power. After what the bomb was fired knocked the firing pin, slide back and pull the spring for next shot.

absolutely wrong, from somebody who knows only bazooka :-D
