agmerlin
What's going on chaps? One of the things that's missing off my bike is the clutch cable adjuster that fits on the top of the gearbox and threads through the casing. So where an I get one from? Also something strange is that most of the pictures I've seen show that the casings are slotted above the adjuster. Mine isn't! So I'm wondering if that's normal or if its been welded up?? Ron
I don't know what the post war boxes are like? But all the wartime boxes I've seen have a slot in the cable lug. Easy to put in with a hacksaw. Probably easier to buy a complete correct cable from 'JJ Cables' 01926 651470 cableman7@hotmail.co.uk Ron.
agmerlin
Thanks Ron, I will give them a call and get the hacksaw out. Got my oil tank decal today so thanks for the contact. all the best. Andy
GeePig
Andy, before getting a hacksaw out, I would check the clutch operating lever to see what size of cable nipple it needs. If it only needs a small nipple, there will be no need to cut anything. Trevor
Ron
Trev/Andy.The slot needs to be there for the correct cable to be installed as the adjuster feeds from the outside. Here they are on my 3SW and 3HW. Same thing on the 5SW I am currently restoring. Ron
GeePig
Uh, OK, I don't know much about those models. But I have seen variants of other motorcycles with small or large nipples, the former not needing a slot. If there is a clip to hold the nipple in place it could affect the choice of cable. I just thought it was worth checking that first. Trevor
