Mike Starmer, the expert in British military colours, in his Book "British Army Colour & Disruptive Camouflage in the United Kingdom, France & NW Europe 1936-45" describes gas warning paint as "originally a yellow ochre colour usually about 9 inches or 12 inches across, which changed colour to a bright red in the presence of Mustard Gas......repeated in 1944 orders although by then the bonnet patch and tray may not have been used although by then a less obvious and greener camouflage coloured paste approxiating Khaki Green was in use."

Hope this helps.

Cheers,

Neil
