Ian L
And here is the same Humber now. Pretty much finished. and as it was before we started pulling it out. It collapsed on itself when we extracted it Congratulations : another RAF Humber Box.
brown cow
Hi Amphib Andy I was mumbling incoherently when I saw your recovery pictures, now I'm mumbling incoherently AGAIN at the results! A BIG congratulations from me. My Humber is still between 1st and 2nd base. Any chance of some pics during the restoration? Are you going to do the 2nd vehicle or was that a donor? regards Andrew B
AmphibAndy
thanks Andrew. I have to come clean and admit that the restoration of the body has been done by a professional coach builder who has worked wonders. He built the body piece by piece without removing it from the chassis and restored the chassis underneath it. I would prefer to do it the other way around, but my father and I don't share the same view on this. He is adamant that you must keep the integrity of the body . My point is that there was not a lot of it left so it would have been ok to strip it down to the chassis and build it back up. The second Humber is sitting untouched awaiting a decision as to what to do with it. It is too good to be used for spares and was a lot better than the first one so it looks like I will have to do that one now!

rupert condick
hi nice work it takes some effort, the bonnet and front grille , mudguards red outer wings, was, transfer box cover are ok the rest, of the body is very poor all the woodwork is scrap or wrong.. need to find some history and parts. oh well such fun. no ERM /MOS plate, no luck with the RLC as yet Good luck to all who follow. I need a truck load of parts drawings etc, as for its history its an old one, untouched by later Army mods, found desert sand on the rear axle, and RAF or RAAF blue one the front axle, Australian Army green (maybe a later addition post war).
