Hi Andy , Not wishing to sound pessimistic mate but just supposing she breaks down on the day out would it need the rest of the museum to be mobilised to recover her as that would be fantastic to see ! :D But seriously I guess you can call on the current REME lads for assistance ! I am gonna try my best to come up to watch all the fun you boys are gonna have !

we will have the cent there as well(just in case) but it should be more reliable now as modern injection system fitted and megasqirt ignition on it but all one in a way that it can be returned to original to please the purists,it should by our calculations cut fuel consumption making it slightly better on the pocket, look forward to seeing you there

more pics of conq progress, winch is now back in and sorting out the new propulsion (ie the winch will be driven by a j60 engine with auto box) on which as you will see fits in the engine bay,the new fuel tank is now ready to be fitted as is the totally new fuel injection system and megasqirt ignition which is shown in pic out of the conq, also all control rods refitted and what a job that was will keep you updated with progress when more work carried out

the original injection system is not functioning as it should do making rough running and the injection fuel pump seals have been eaten away by unleaded fuel so not working but we will repair it all so can be refitted if need be at later date, yes manifolds are new build to carry modern injectors. the winch was originally driven by pto from main engine but fair bit of it missing,ie 90 degree gearbox drive off main engine, chances of finding one ???? nil so fitted j60 engine to power with auto box, reason being quicker to pull cable in when not loaded, plus just one cable to control it from compartment

hope tht helps

Has someone done a Meteor with Megasquirt before or are you using some approximate maps and then tweaking on the fly?

lots of people in the tractor pulling world have done it on meteor engines but conq is m120 engine so it is a whole new learning curve for us , john has worked out most of the parameters from original engine specs so we hopefully are 3/4 of the way there, will tell you what happens after sat when we start it up

futher progress report.finaly the start up after numerous coolant leaks, drain it down, fill it back up and so on cured them then couple of lecky probs ,sorted them and 5 oclock spun her over to get oil pressure and check other systems. switched the pumps on and couple of spins she was ticking over a bit roughly but running, next weekend we will work on the running parameters to get her reving properly but well chuffed at what we achieved today as its a learning curve for us.will post a link to utube video when its finished uploading, you will hear a diesel engine running as we slaved off the militant wrecker as we forgot to charge conq batts haha hope you enjoy
