schliesser92
Can anyone identify this?. I'm not much good at old guns, except from the business end. It's from a slide my father took in France (exact location unknown, but probably near Verdun). I suspect that it's a French Schneider 75mm. any ideas? steveo578
it does not have a schneider breach ring. Looks like a Skoda 100mm model 1914 with original horse traction wheels, I think an example possibly ex Italian was captured by the british in the desert and brought home and was photographed alongside a British 25pdr so it could still exist in some collection. Photos off Wiki Steve Thanks. It seems to match. I didn't know that the French used Austro-Hungarian weaponry - unless of course they (going against the grain!) actually captured one!i
steveo578
By capture or handed over after the Armastice, -possibly even left behind in Southern France after occupation in WW2 by Italian forces.
