D.U.K.W. in Malaya 1951?

Rummaging through photos taken by my father when in Malaya or Borneo when in the R.A.F. around 1951, I found this. Of course it might not be from there as there's no info, but I thought someone might find it interesting.

It seems to have had a bit of a kicking!

Well, let's see what we have here.

 

Absolutely standard mid-series production DUKW, no very early or late features.

 

Every removable item has been removed, even the spare wheel (DUKWs have a LOT of removable items)

 

USA number, bridge plate, and so on have been painted out.

 

Screen looks broken, but apart from that I'd take this one home in a minute, actually slightly less dinged and damaged than the average DUKW, even at seven or eight years old.
