Marmite!!
Don't sound good:shake: http://www.aulro.com/afvb/remlr-general/85568-merredin-train-crossing-accident.html http://www.merredinmercury.com.au/news/local/news/general/crash-sours-army-cadets-event/1595256.aspx Apparently the Ferret was attempting to cross the rail line when it somehow got it's wheels stuck between the rails. As the driver was attempting to extract the Ferret off the track, a freight train approached. With the noise of the Ferret motor and the fact that the driver was wearing headphones and concentrating on what he was doing, he failed to see or hear the rapidly approaching train sounding it's horn. The impact tore the turret off and caved in one side of the vehicle. Rescuers said, that had the side of the Ferret been crushed a little more, they would not have been able to extract the driver as they had no heavy duty cutting gear. The Royal Flying Doctor spent 5 hours stabilizing the driver before they were confident he would survive the flight to Perth. I have been told that the driver has had emergency surgery, is in an induced coma and is now on the critical but stable list. Edited August 18, 2009 by Marmite!! LarryH57
How strange - I was only thinking the other day while watching one of those 'Rescue' programs on TV that the Fire Brigade would have a real problem cutting in to a Sarecen, Fox or Ferret if it was in a bad accident! LoggyDriver
I wish the driver a speedy recovery. As mentioned it's lucky he was in an Armoured vehicle, anything else and he would have been killed. I hope he pulls thru
