  1. Hi Joris, So very sorry to hear about your Dad, it's perhaps not a consolation at this difficult time but you will always have your good memories! My condolences to you and your family!
  2. fantastic pictures....i love it when the older kit gets used as it was designed but for something far newer...
  3. Might be worth registering with the EMLRA forum...there is excellent information on there specifically related to all things Land Rover and 1 or 2 people have first hand experience with Snatch Land Rovers... good source for spares too.... cheers Mike
  4. you beat me to it Mark... so what exactly should we put in our tanks....ie every time i fill up should i be pouring a litre of oil in there too what kind of oil and what amount would you guys recommend please cheers Mike
  5. I am very new to this hobby and feel it only right to give another newbies view ... I have attended a number of shows during this year both as a spectator & a participant but usually with family in tow that is not yet willing to actively "join in". so we have for this reason camped at the last event slightly away from the main MV campment...never the less we where made to feel very welcome even though i knew very few members and those i did know only met briefly....There is a clique at some events but if your prepared to show an interest and say hello then people are very warm indeed even to us Land Rover 90 owners.... Indeed at 1 show with a small MV section the people where very welcoming indeed (smallwood Steam rally) and i will be trying very hard to attend this show in the future.. I have also managed to attend my local MVT meeting, (manchester) only once so far due to work commitments and was also made to feel welcome...I am not the most outgoing person in the world so didnt chat to everyone there but nevertheless can honestly say i was made welcome...i even won a raffle prize of a bottle of wine...i couldnt attend the last event although i did intend too due to the very close proximately of the Manchester riots that kicked of that evening... i also would like to speak out for the forum members both on here and other MV sites who i personally have found to be very willing to advise and help...not everyone.. agreed... but thats life....Clive in particular has given me guidance both on here and EMLRA for example.... To sum up, if you put effort in, you are rewarded by the response back, if you dont want or are unwilling to make an effort you will get less back... I for 1 am really enjoying being a part, although a very new part of the MV scene ! thanks Mike
  6. I too agree with the overall comments about this event...the crowds for Sundays convoy where huge with lots & lots of Camera's out.... I was in the 2nd half of the convoy when we split off...we where directed to do so by the police officer on the roundabout under the viaduct....they then stopped us near the gardencentre for 10 mins when it actually threw it down...Jeep driver in front of me didnt look impressed 1 bit....we then went through dobcross then Delph and then via castleshaw... seemed to be a planned split but cant be sure on that...and then joined up with the other vehicles at The Carriage House pub Agree regarding the split locations... it didnt work as well as last few years (although i have only been a spectator in the past) but i beleive this was due to the planned work at Churchill playing fields...they where supposed to be having drainage layed over summer so wasnt expected to be available....given this planned work that has either been delayed or cancelled i think the organisers did as good a job as was possible all in all an excellent event that i plan on attending as many times as it runs as its only about 3 miles away from me so it would be rude not to support it ! cheers Mike
  7. Been up there today at saddleworth school...good turn out and great crowds in Uppermill lots of people in period dress and Military Uniform... I was told today thou that if i was looking to be in the convoy to be at Churchill Playing fields rather than the school...after the convoy small vehicles will be parked up at the school but bigger vehicles to go back to Churchill because of space cheers Mike
  8. And fantastic it looked too...it was really kicking up the dust... very impressive !
  9. It was an excellent show Mark...not just on the military front, which was very good & well organised but also on the family entertainment front....something for all the family from brilliant model aircraft that must have flown constantly for at least 12 hrs a day if not 18 to static engines, model boats and trains, laurel & hardy...bikers mixing with VW enthusiasts & mini owners, moshers mixing with old classic car owners... something for everyone...a must attend for me next year... cheers Mike
  10. It was an excellent show despite the weather...definitely looking forward to next years... my photos too... Enjoy Mike
  11. Oh and Brooky good to meet you even if very briefly... i was just about to go on the arena parade and had 3 women in the back wittering on lol !!!! cheers Mike
  12. Really enjoyed this event...took part in the arena parade on both days and the convoy on saturday night....excellent fun... We ended up camping up near the control tower near the cadets who although a little boisterous where all really well behaved...and they did a great job in assisting with the arena parade too.... Didnt get to talk to too many MV people really as my wife and daughter are still getting there head around the MV scene and we also had family down all weekend too so had to entertain them....anyway it was good fun and some cracking vehicles and displays there.... will put some photos on shortly... & lastly a big thanks to West Lancs MVT in particular (I especially Jamie & Marie although i am sure there where others equally as involved...hope i got your names right too)as this was a really well run event... cheers Mike
  13. Fully intend to get to know a few people...not sure my wife and daughter are fully into the MV thing yet but they are coming along too....how much entertainment is provided at night at all...beer tent & music still going on at all for the non-drivers??? definitely looking to do the road run on saturday ! cheers Mike
  14. Nothing particularly special except to me maybe...Land Rover 90 FFR never gonna win any prizes but thats fine with me! Hoping to be part of the convoy at least so does the military section have its own camping and the rest of the rally camp in the general camping area... cheers Mike
  15. Looking to Camp there from Friday night probably get there about 7pm...bit concerned after seeing a facebook post that it gets filled up very quickly... Anyone advise what its like....I only have a Civilian tent only am afraid.... cheers Mike
