  1. Clive, Many thanks for the input - very interesting, have certainly learned something new regarding specification for the fitting of security screens to such a vehicle! As far as I can see from the previous owners before and during restoration photos of the traveller, there doesn't appear to be any evidence in the woodwork/metal which might suggest that such an application was fitted to this vehicle.
  2. Many thanks for that pointer:tup::
  3. ...and a further example on ex-BAOR LHD Traveller
  4. I've found a photo of a further example of an ID plate on another vehicle, same contract number and with the P33540/11 number present in the same position - although not on the 'Covered By CES No' line box
  5. David, thanks for the input - it is a bit puzzling, a couple of other photos I've seen of other similar Morris vehicles have the 34173 code stamped - hence, in part, the reason for my enquiry! :-\
  6. Ah right...thanks for that, perhaps I have interpreted the plate incorrectly, I'll try and attach a couple of pics for reference
  7. Yes sorry... would help if I'd put that (!) - Car Utility 4x2 Morris 1000 Thanks
  8. Hello there, I'm currently seeking information regarding vehicle CES covered by the following number which is stamped on the vehicle data plate : P33540/11 Many thanks :-\
  9. Hi there, Resurrecting an older thread here as I'm seeking any relevant 1970's paperwork which would've been carried in a vehicle document wallet - thanks.
  10. Many thanks indeed for that Clive, thank you for taking the trouble to look that up and for posting - much appreciated.
  11. Hello there, Just wondering on the off-chance that someone may have a copy of a Ruddington sales catalogue with a page listing for a specific vehicle, I will attach image of vehicle index card for reference. Many thanks.
  12. Hello there, Returning to the forum after a break - having now recently acquired an ex-British army Morris Minor Traveller which has had extensive restoration undertaken by previous owner and now just requires the final 20% of finishing to it's original military guise. I have obtained the vehicle's history record via the RLC archive and it's date into service was January 1970, it was then stored at Ashchurch CVD until March 1971 and subsequently then went to SEME REME at Bordon until March 1975, then shows as being at Tech Stores SEME until June 1977 whereupon it was then sent to Ruddington presumably for storage/disposal. Our aim is to restore and display the vehicle relating to it's service during the period it operated at Bordon, I will at some later point contact the recently relocated REME museum archive to enquire as to whether they may have any material/information relating to the vehicle but also wondered if anyone on this forum may have any general or specific recollections/knowledge of what functions it would've served within it's role at SEME REME? The vehicle will also eventually wear it's original unit insignia on individual front plates and rear doors - I understand that this would probably have been the blue/yellow/red with REME crest (?) on one side but I am unsure if there was sub-unit marking relating to the SEME itself...(?)...if anyone could advise on the correct unit identity markings I would be much obliged. Many thanks, Neil W.
  13. Thanks for the welcome :-) - must admit, always liked the Ferret but unfortunately practicality dictates on various levels so it had to be the good old Landy once again - plus as I live in Solihull the old 2a has come 'home' after serving the colours etc so it adds that little extra dimension too! :-D
  14. Hi there, Currently undertaking restoration of Land Rover Series 2a, army registation number 43 EP 30 - manufactured in 1966 under contract number WV3691, history I have is as follows: came into service with British Army in February 1966 and was held in storage until February 1967 when it went to serve with 1st Welsh Borderers. In November 1969 it went to Central Vehicle Depot at Hilton. In May 1971 it went to the Training Park, Catterick. In November 1971 it returned to Central Vehicle Depot, Hilton. In June 1972 it went to the Proof and Experimental Establishment, Pendine where it remained until February 1974 when it was struck off the military census at Ruddington. So for restoring vehicle to a specific unit there are a few options, not sure which way I'll go with that as yet but the most interesting would seem to be the Proof and Experimental Establishment, Pendine - I have run a few searches relating to this establishment but there seems to be very limited information, but I am interested to know what sort of usage/tasks etc the vehicle may have been used for as it would then help with knowing what 'standard' and 'task specific' kit and items which would have been additionally carried on the vehicle. Cheers, Neil W.
  15. Hi there, Totally new to this forum but not quite so 'new' to the world of green machines due to having restored a couple of Land Rover FFR vehicles (Series 2A & 3) in the past! Have been out of the loop for a few years though and ventured across to the classic car circuit but it was never quite the same - so find myself back in the world of military vehicles etc and as a joint effort with my dad, am embarking upon the restoration of 1966 Land Rover Series 2a. Cheers & all the best, Neil. :-)
