Good to met you too Wayne, aways a pleasure to talk about green things Glad you are happy with the "Andy", poor thing has been most neglected at the back of the barn for many years, so needed a new home! Will try and sort some pics of the Lightweight project out and get a thread going, busy now making a list of all the missing bits so I can have a hunt for them at Malvern!!! -
I knew I should not have started looking at forums again, picking my new lightweight up tomorrow (should never have sold the last one) Hopefully will have it looking as good as this one by the end of summer, Chris does such a nice job with his restorations its a tough standard to beat!

Rover8FFR - do you still need one of the high pressure lubricators Clive mentions? If so, I have one gathering dust in the barn that I would happily donate to your Pig project! Give me a shout if interested. -
I have put what cross references I can find here: http://www.fv433.co.uk/fv433_service_items.html Hopefully should have a commercial match on the engine oil filter soon, just waiting to hear back and will then update the site accordingly.

Stoneleigh Malvern and the like

Vehicle parts do seem to be getting much harder to source at these kind of shows. It does make you wonder how easy it will be to keep the old girls going as the years go on. I am already having to get some parts for the Abbot remanufactured, and that is never cheap to do. On the plus point, I still managed to spend far too much at Malvern, and even brought a few bits from a nice man who was "clearing his loft".... -
question Can anyone identify this please
84KB11 replied to robin craig's question in I may be stupid, but......
Comes up as "Fan Belt Tensioner" DMC is 4LEP, which if memory serves me correctly is diesel CVRT (LEP being Life Extension Program). Edit, forgot to add: AS039786 is the procurement code and gives a price of £230 each! -
news Ferret 06eb51 mark 2/6 at withams feb tender - pics

I had a good look at this one too. It is a 2/6, not the 2/7 convertion. And surprisingly they did make a new data plate for 2/7. It looks like the vigilant kit was completely removed from the turret, but all the other 2/7 hull removals and modifications have not been done. My guess would be that just the turret mods were done, either because it was going for display, or because the vigilants were removed and fitted to another vehicle. However, even the turret removals are not to the proper 2/7 spec, so I am guessing it was a local unit/REME removal rather than an official modification. The missing brackets are quite crude, and luckily well illustrated in the manusls, so a full restoration would not be that hard. If only Clive still had the vigilants for sale....... -
Spotted a very nice looking CET parked up in the front vehicle park of Ashcurch yesterday. Was surprised to see it, especially in "just refurbished" state, though the MOD had got rid of them all.

Welcome Andy, nice to see another local on here. Look forward to seeing the truck around the local show circuit. Oh and Fesm_ndt, Landy madness is very common in the "Shire"
-
Hi Clive, No, I had a good look at it when up there for the last tender. Its still a 2/6 hull, but missing all the turret mounted brackets (ground off). Its not had the 2/7 conversion like my old one. If I still had the spare 2/6 turret, I would have been very tempted by it myself.

Was not quite sure where to put this post, so here will do. Anyone seen the Vigilant Mk2/6 Ferret that Withams have in their auction at present? http://www.mod-sales.com/auction/vehicle/related/27747/Alvis_Ferret_Mk2_1950-60.htm# Its in a bad way, but this has to be one of the rarest ferret varients and would be nice to see it restored.

I use Plus-Gas, seems to shift most things. GR Fasteners stock it in either spray cans or 5lit tins.
