  1. You could try 'genius of the lamp' they did a couple of headlight reflectors for a classic vehicle I restored and did a cracking job, not cheap but first rate, they are in Birmingham. going from memory I think chrome was not used in headlight reflectors but was called silvering, think it was something to do with the way chrome is deposited on the surface. Mike
  2. Sad news, RIP Mike. (43rd Recce history group)
  3. I'm guessing that the 'safety' would be on to stop the receiver springing back unless the sten was going to be used. Mike
  4. Not as far as I am aware..., the organiser I was talking to was british and as far as I am aware the other guy is british as well. Mike
  5. This planned event may be of interest to anybody with British marked WW2 vehicles, and plans to follow the route of XXX Corps through Belgium / Holland. I have no connection with the guy apart having met him, but it sounds very good and appears to be well organised. Have a look at their website. http://xxxcorps.wix.com/operation70 Cheers Mike
  6. Thanks for the offer on the container, I have checked the container sizes, my Bedford is 8' 6" wide and the container is 7'8" wide at the door opening. Just have to keep looking I guess. Thanks for replying. Mike
  7. Hi, I am looking for secure, dry storage for 2 medium sized vehicles plus a motorcycle, in or around Romsey/ Southampton area. Please PM me with details etc of anything available. Thanks Mike
  8. I would like to add a little footnote to the convoy comments through Ramsbury...,after the initial meeting to discuss postponing the convoy due to the rain,as soon as the rain had slowed down, you might of noticed a lone Don R riding or should I of said sliding down the field on his bike and out into Ramsbury, his job was to see what the conditions were like and how many public were around, yep that was me..I came back to report to Keith on the conditions, I told him that the conditions were improving and there was a lot of joe public waiting around and that we the 43rd Recce Regt would go out and give them something to see.. so I went on up to our area to get the vehicles un-sheeted and ready to move out, thats when the message came from Keith to hold on and that he was trying to find the tank drivers to see what could be arranged, the rest as they say is history.. I would like to add my thanks to all of who came and took part in the event, it was an ambitious plan and Keith's drive and determination kept us all going in the face of adversity in all its forms! Mike, 43rd Recce Regt (and member of the event organising committee Kennet Valley MVT)
  9. Guys, Thanks for the replies, I will pass on the info, a friend has just bought a WOT 15 cwt and wants to put the mickey mouse markings on the canvas. Cheers Mike
  10. Guys, I dont know if anybody can help me regarding the subject of painting the mickey mouse pattern on the cavas of a truck, I think earlier in this discussion somebody contacted me saying that they had good results from using black screen printing ink, trouble is I have lost the details of the company that supplied the ink. Can anybody help. Thanks Mike
  11. Andy, I am still a bit of a novice on the Bedfords ,having only had mine a short time but from what i have found out so far, mechanical parts are no problem to get but bodywork is thin on the ground so I guess the state of the body is important unless you are a tin basher. It took me about 6 months to find a truck so happy hunting, check the usual places, Milweb, MVT greensheet etc. Mike
  12. Hi Pete, Thanks for the reply,I am about to replace the original canvas on my MW, the cab canvas has been painted black and the rear canvas has the mickey mouse camo on it, I didnt want to wreck the new canvas by applying something that would eat the thread or remove the waterproofing,it looks like the original has a black bitumastic coating. Mike
  13. Guys, On the same subject, what is the best paint/coating to use to apply the mickey mouse camo to the canvas of a truck. cheers Mike
  14. Guys, Thanks for all your advice, just what I was looking for. Also thanks to Berni & Russ for the info. cheers Mike
