Kevin, I'm happy to hear you were able to successfully follow up on my leads and made good use of my reconnaissance work over in France. Yes, it is rusty but it is rare and it is very complete down to two instruction plates and gun clamps inside the cab. Here are some photos I made during my recce trip. Good luck with the restoration!

Sorry to hear about your loss. Here's hoping you can find a good home for the Thornycroft J type and make Tomo's dream come true.

Nice CMP, the C8AX is a rare truck. Get it running safely, then worry about cosmetics later.

I will look up the contact details of a small transport company who's doing trips up and down to France

Well done, it looks splendid! Great to see a British truck in typical mid-war British colours π

A tapered metal cone, IIRC.

In the early 1980s I played with one they had at the Sea Cadet Corps in Potters Bar. Who knows it may still be there? It was a single gun mount and it looked like this:

mcspool started following 10-cwt mortar trailer parts wanted
-
Hello all, I recently bought a 10-cwt mortar trailer in Belgium. Obviously, the original wood is long gone. The chassis is still pretty good, except for the tow bar which was replaced a long time ago with one made from round pipe to fit a civilian hitch. Does anyone have the parts for the tow bar - towing eye, brake lever and parts - and possibly a cut-off tow bar? Or dimensions so I can make up the tow bar? I realise I need more parts but I'd thought I'd start with the hardest bits π Any leads to 10-cwt mortar trailer parts are appreciated. I live in the Netherlands. Thanks in advance!

Here's a nice period photo of the 8'0'' wheelbase Commer Q2 Tractor. There are only a few survivors, one in a stunning RAF blue-black paint scheme, the other is a wreck and will hopefully restored one day. There may be more, but I can't see there would be more than a handful? of
