  1. In which case could you possibly give me any dimensions to compare? I've just been back to it and got these. OD of diff housing cover plate flange, 11.25" ID of diff housing cover plate flange 9.5" Distance between wheel flanges/ plates. 56.5" Axle 84mm. Restoration? Diff is like a colander....gotta be a better place to start! Thankyou.
  2. Hi folks. Really don't like bumping my own posts, but have I asked my question the wrong way, or is there really nothing that can be said about this axle, or maybe it is all too obvious? TIA
  3. Hi folks. I'm really here looking for information. In the process of researching the history of a Leicestershire woodland, I've found a rear axle rotting away, and I'd like to work out what vehicle it is from. It is in an area of grown over vehicle ruts (ie with mature trees growing between the ruts) which we think may stem from a clear fell episode earlier in the 20th Century. For the axle, the diff is pretty much central (though I haven't measured this), and the diff cover is circular and is 12 bolt. From an arborists forum I've had a possible i.d. of a Dodge, and from what I have then been able to web search, it looks to me like it might be from an M37. Can anyone help me out anymore? The tyres are not matching: one is Michelin 7.00 x R16 and one is a Goodrich Silvertown. It's been suggested that the axle has been reused on a trailer - this would make good sense. Any help appreciated! Matt Here some images
