  1. Thanks Pete. I wasn't sure if the ends would be an issue if they're not a modern metric thread, or if the existing ends can be reused, which I guess is what prompted me to ask the question. I'm learning as I go! 🙂 I've just googled so I'll try those places. Thanks for the advice. Stuart.
  2. Afternoon all. Having got my Standard Tilly running after a long lay up, I was beginning to think it was job done when the flexible oil pipe which connects the oil pressure sender to the copper pipe which feeds the gauge gave up and promptly allowed oil to squirt through two pin holes, onto the engine block, over the exhaust pipe and onto the drive (which has cost me a considerable amount of brownie points!). Does anyone know, or would anyone be able to recommend someone who could make up a new one? Ideally I need a reasonably quick turn around as I'm hoping to have the vehicle out for the May Day weekend. I'm in Bristol so if there's anyone local-ish which would save postage times that would be even better. Any help greatly appreciated. Thanks, Stuart.
  3. Thank you Ron, really appreciate that. Seems fairly straight forward then. I've got to make a bit of space in the garage first but hoping to tackle this towards the end of the month. In the meantime I'll get an alignment tool ordered and get studying the manual. Thanks again, Stuart.
  4. Hello all, I'm wondering if anyone can offer any advice please? At some point in the next couple of months I need to change the clutch in my Austin Tilly, or at least take it out for refurbishment. This is the first time I'll be undertaking a major task on my own so I was wondering if anyone has any advice or tips. Also does anyone have any recommendations for anyone who could supply a new clutch or reline the clutch plate in the Bristol area? Any advice gratefully received. Thank you.
  5. Hello All! I've just joined the HMVF so here's my introduction: My name is Stuart and I live in Bristol. I have a 1943 Austin Tilly which was returned to England from Malta and restored in the early 90s. Unfortunately it's military history is unknown. It's currently marked 139 Plant Sqn, Royal Engineers as remembered by my late Grandfather from his time serving in Italy and Austria just after the Second World War. I enjoy taking it to 3 or 4 shows a year including the WSRA show near Taunton and the Dig For Victory show in North Somerset. I work in hospitality so unfortunately I don't have a great deal of spare time to get involved in the hobby as much as I'd like, hence only going to a few shows a year. My main reason for joining is to learn what I can and hopefully expand my somewhat limited knowledge.
