  1. FV4002 Centurion Mk7 Bridgelayer w/o bridge Except the bridge very complete and rare! The Centurion Mk 7 Bridgelayer, even without bridge, is in this condition nearly impossible to find these days. This specific example is released from the Swiss Army in the seventies. It is remarkable complete and comes with a large quantity pioneet tools and equipment as indicated on the pictures. Engine is currently not running but turns freely. Bridges for thois model (No.6 or No.9) are so now and than offered on the market. This Centurion Mk 7 Bridgelayer as a platform is still in remarkable good condition so it will be an excellent basis for any level of restoration either a donor for a Centurion Main Battle Tank (MBT) project. https://auction.tracksandtrade.com/auction/centurion-mk7-bridgelayer-lot-0123#tab-description

The US Army was late to the trend and equipped their first towing vehicle as early as 1942, it was built by the Allis-Chalmers company, it was a tractor built on the M3 light tank chassis. It was called the M4 Carrier. From 1943 onwards the M4 was a part of the artillery units. The M4 consisted of a large caterpillar cabin, sheltering the crew of the tractor at the front and the crew of the towed artillery. The M4 could carry up to 11 crew members, with room for additional equipment! The M4 was deployed on many fronts and was intensely used in Normandy during operation Overlord. 5.552 units were made, and they were used by the US Army until 1960. After the Second World War the M4 Tractor was also used in many other armies all over the world. Moreover, many types of these tractors were stripped of their military components and used for log skidders and power line construction. The tractor was for sure active on the Western Front in World War Two, it was delivered in 1943. In the late seventies it was purchased by a UK collector after being released by the army. The collector spent a couple of years and lots of effort in the unit to restore it. However, he never finished it in full. Also, the engine was never fully overhauled in that period. It was then sold to another collector who put a lot of effort into restoring the vehicle and completing it with the right tools. It is very complete, original and has been restored in a very high-quality manner. Comes with all the correct details, it starts on the button, and ready to be used. It will be delivered with Belgium road registration documents. Not that many examples survived worldwide, especially in this great condition.
  3. Hi all, never uploaded all the pictures of the restoration. Got a question if I would so here we go. Hereby the rest of the pictures, as you can see we had a headgasket failure but eventually all worked out. Hope you like the pictures. Some minor work I want to do in the future is to paint the vehicle in CAMO (Black and Green) and adjust carb / rev limiter settings.

  13. Believe Adrian is correct did you have any more picture from this? The yard is not ours but we are restoring 2 Comets tanks, were off 1 came from this location the T335252.
  14. Hi we are currently restoring a Comet tank. This Comet is built by Leyland under contract M9707 in March 1945 and given the makers number B2-563 W.D.N T335252. The Comet has been used by British Forces during the WW-II and after the war with the post war registration 14-ZR-34. It remained in service till the early sixties. At 13 October 1964 it was transfered from the Royal Armoured Corps to the Royal Army Medical Corps, were it probably was used as a Gate Guard. After this the Comet was stationed outside the Sennelager Barracks close to Paderborn in Germany. In 1994 it was recovered and partly restored and now it is back again in restoration to complete and perseve this lovely tank. Interesting to note that according to the makers plate it is a Mk 1 model A version, but it has the older style turret with the improved comander cupola ring (stronger), which I believe is a model B feature or am I incorrect and is also A related? There could also be the possiblity that the turret was replaced during it's service due to damage on the original turret? Would anyone have more information on this Comet? Would be lovely to find at which regiment it served or that there are any pictures from even, could be a change that there are some post-war pictures (14 ZR 34) or when it was a Gate Guard. http://www.baiv.nl/wp-content/uploads/2015/10/Comet-T335252-history-2.jpg http://www.baiv.nl/wp-content/uploads/2015/10/Comet-Celerity-1951.jpg We have more picture of the restoration on our facebook page or website http://www.baiv.nl/comet-2/ https://www.facebook.com/pages/BAIV-BV/103397456456403 Kind regards Ivo
