  1. Hi We are restoring a 1950's Wickham rail trolley from the Longmoor Military Railway & we are trying to identify the headlight / spotlight on the vehicle. (see attached picture) We need to confirm the make and model number, so we cansearch for a replacement light for the other end of the trolley. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance. Best regards Jonathan Flood The Rail Trolley Trust
  2. Website will be launched soon......watch this space. Ps collection has grown a little 😉
  3. If you want to know anything about D Wickham & Co. Ltd, I suggest you join the Wickham of Ware Facebook, Flickr & Yahoo! Groups. There is also a book (published by Rockingham Press) about the Company but unfortunately it is out of print now. With regards to the Lightweight Dumpers, I would be very interested in any information. In the last 8 years I have seen two sold. One at a Cheffins Auction in Cambridgeshire & one on eBay. If you know of any surviving examples, details would be very much appreciated. Thanks Jonathan Owner & Moderator - Wickham of Ware Online Groups
  4. The D Wickham & Co. Ltd were based in Ware, Hertfordshire but also had a site in Stevenage. They were a general engineering company that were best known for the rail vehicles they built, examples of which still survive in the UK & all over the world. The Company sadly does not exist any longer. I'll pass on the query to some contacts who used to work for the Company & see what they can tell me.
  5. It's a Target Trolley built in large numbers by D Wickham & Co. Ltd of Ware. They were used on ranges such as Lydd, Okehampton, Lulworth & Redesdale. They were mainly 2'0" gauge & ran with Wooden Targets secured to a frame above the Trolley. They had throttle controls on them which were operated by trackside mounted equipment. The two from Beverley are now in the care of the Leighton Buzzard Railway
  6. Hi I have just joined the Forum. My particular interest is in Historic Military Rail Vehicles, especially those built by D Wickham & Co. Ltd of Ware, Hertfordshire. I currently own / co-own two ex UK MOD Wickham Trolleys. One from Kineton and one from Longmoor. Wickhams also built rail vehicles that were and indeed still are used on various Tank Ranges in the UK. Jonathan
