  1. Hi C.W. Abbey Hill is a great show 1st May bank holiday in Yeovil. Hi Bernard I used Chelsea Frictions, good service and price right.
  2. Hi Mark, hope alls well. Am sorting this years outings. After Lingfield is IMPS new show and mayhem. To save me returning home between each show (which is too many miles and would put me off going ) is there anywhere I can park up in the area between shows.

    Thanks Graham G.

  3. Hi Ian, No not ignoring you, just not had time to log on lately. Too busy working on truck. Front axel done, back axel new seals, break reline and refitted hubs yesterday. New tyres fitted on Tina's newly painted rims! So should soon be done and looking smart for Abbey Hill, and it may even stop when wanted now. Hope you guys all doing well. Graham G.
  4. Good evening Mr Germany (and Tina!!) Hope you are well. Ian is totally addicted to the truck porn on site and I am his b**ch typing uploading etc!! Hows the front axle coming along - any joy? We went we looked and we came away as it was too bloody cold to be messing with bits of explorer !! Take care Ian and Laura P.S have a thread with some pics if you want to look!

  5. Update on seals. Seal run tube made and pushed on stub axle. Existing seal metal fixing plates altered with aditional metal dics to facilitate use of two 175 x 153 x 10mm standard oil seals. Not cheap but the way forward. Will pass on details if required.
  6. Hi GPS -Phil . Welcome to the forum and thanks for the loan of the hub spanner, linings returned to Fraser.
  7. hi Graham hope the spanner works.it is to wet and cold down here, knee deep in mud where it is not frozen. went to move the truck wheels frozen into the ground rather than break somthing waiting for a warmer day, still a good excuse to stay in and try to source some bits.

  8. Gritineye Your U.H.T.E.P Grease does seem to be the Mutts Nuts. The Explorer front hub oil seal is not just to retain oil but also to stop ingress of water, road grime and break dust, which if unchecked will act as a grinding paste. So a change of grease type is just side stepping the issue. My seal man assures me he can make any seal, but he does need a patern or drawing to work from------anyone got one, or prepared to remove a hub to get one ??? Graham G.
  9. Hi everyone. Now that the rally season is all but over, I thought I'd get right on the case for some winter maintainance, before the christmass festivities blur and distract thinking paterns ! So with this in mind I removed the front hubs for a break reline. Not much shoe wear found and no wonder they never sqeaked, Rocoll grease works !!! The early style seals (pre chassis 8062 ) have disintigrated and not even enough remains for a patern. Now what I need is two new seals (either pre chassis 8062 or the post garter type) or some very good idea's and or leads ! Many thanks Graham G.
  10. Hi every one, Im new to the forum and thought I should introduce myself. For my sins I have owned Scammell Explorers for the last 12/13 years. I travel thousands of miles each year attending steam rallies and military shows. Such milage leads to many breakdowns, but over the years have learned how to keep them going ! I am often found discussing Explorers ( with gritineye ) whilst propping up real ale tent bars. Looking forward to the forum. Graham G.
